Been looking for a nice tropical dial for some time now and happened to come across this. Should have more pictures soon, but any comments so far?

Out of principle I would never buy from anyone who does those washed-out photos with the white background.

Agree on the pictures, if a seller can’t provide pictures resembling the truth and actual situation but chooses to doctor pictures I would not even look further but move on to the next.

The coronet on the clasp is obviously grinded off, what happenened to the bottom of the lugs below the holes ? Looks like somebody used the same grinding wheel on those

Agree on the bottom right lug. Looks like its been whittled down quite a bit. However, the front still looks like its uniform with the other lugs

iF you like the dial, then go for it. I could never live with those lugs though. Would always nag at me. But to each their own.

I think this will be a matter of personal taste, but it's certainly an interesting look. If you like it, then go for it.

Lovely dial. The bottom right lug is polished more on the back than front btw as far as I can see. Underline tropic Swiss dial and gilt h/s is 70-80% of this package though of course. Service crown glass and folded link btw but no biggies.

This seller had a pretty negative review on the forum. I wouldn’t buy from a dealer that doesn’t stand behind the watches they sell.

Tried doing a search. I got one bad review and a couple of good ones. Am I missing something?

I’m no tropical expert but I snatched some I do on tropical dials only that might be helpful (I have no connection to the source so take this info with a grain of salt). I hope you can use this as some guidelines for your purchase…:

“A dial is considered tropical when

1) It has faded naturally to a different colour. Note that the fade is often from black to brown, but can be from any original colour so long as a material change in colour is evident. Also note that the change must be brought about “naturally”. This can be through exposure to the sun, natural ageing or indeed any other natural process. Baking it in an oven most definitely does not count as natural.

2) A tropical dial needs to be almost uniform in its fading. Sometimes a watch dial gets only partial exposure to the sun and this results in a clear fade but only to some parts of the watch. To be a pure tropical dial, the fading should be uniformly and evenly spread across the whole dial.

3) The change in colour should not be due to water (or other) damage. This is not to say that various types of damage can create very unusual dial outcomes - indeed, often attractive - but this would not be considered a tropical effect.”
