Monday morning - time for another "at the AD" post
We have three Rolex ADs in the area, and the wife does enjoy shopping and she recently suggested buying me a new watch. I'm not convinced yet that I want a new Submariner, so we went to an AD that also carries Omega.
Omega: the brand that you can actually purchase new at retail. LOL They also had Tudor. I've BTDT with Rolex, Omega and Tudor, sold them all for various reasons. But there is a new Speedmaster '57 that I wanted to look at it and they make several models in a 38mm. I have tiny wrists. Long story short: the poor salesperson had to repeatedly remind my wife that although they had several lovely Rolexes for demonstration, they were not for sale, there is no buying of a new Rolex and she has no idea when she will get anything in and they can't even order anything. She was incredibly patient. The Submariner, for me, in my wife's words "will work, but absolutely nothing bigger than that". She liked the OP 36mm on me, but I did not; something about the proportions of the case and the overly simple bezel put me off. I wish they still made the 39mm. Ditto the 38mm Omegas, the case proportions are just off; the movement causes the height to be the same as in a 42mm watch, and it just looks odd. They had no 38mm Speedmasters (those are rare and I don't think they sell well) and all of my research on the Speedmaster '57 (which they didn't have anyway) says that it will be too big lug-to-lug for me anyway. And so I tried on a SS Skydweller. At 42mm it's too big for me, really, and the wife didn't like the fluted bezel. I love the watch, I think it's freakin' gorgeous, the complications are awesome and the blue face was just to die for. It was on the Oyster, and did I mention the beautiful blue face? I'm afraid that with the sparkly fluted bezel and the oversized (for me) case, it will be too flashy, but I'd like to wear it for a year or two just to make sure. We left empty handed, natch.

Well, at least you got to try on some watches.
I could not drag my wife the an AD, or any jewelry store for that matter, with wild horses.

Doesn't the DJ use the same case as the OP?

What about the explorer 1 at 36mm? I feel like for a smaller wrist, that’s a home run.

I'm not a fan of the explorer, I prefer sticks. And again, isn't it the same case as the DJ and OP?

Didn't realize you sold all of your Rolexes!
I'm a big fan of the DJ41, especially with the smooth bezel to reign in the bling factor. Whether it's on Jubilee or Oyster, I think it can be worn as a daily and is just the right size. Mine has a white dial and I know you want blue, so here's a shot of the new release motif dial (thought it does have a fluted bezel) along with mine:

And it's amusing (to me) that you picked up on the leaning toward blue - it's actually the wife that wants me to buy a blue watch, not me. I'm fine with white, or black. Or blue. She asked if they made a Submariner in blue, and I just laughed at her. She mentioned it again in front of the salesperson, and I said, "it's what, 37?" She replied, "no, it's about 40 thousand now". The wife blanched, and I suggested that she could sell her car to pay for it. If I'm going to spend that kind of coin on a blue watch, it's going to be the Daytona. Which, BTW, at 39mm or so, fits me perfectly.

Perhaps a 38mm Aqua Terra would be an option?
I find that the SkyD is absolutely enormous on my 6.5" wrist. |

I have a 7 inch wrist and I think the Skydweller looks too big on me. It's meant to be a dress watch, a sporty dress watch, but a dress watch nonetheless. The thickness bothered me the most on top of that, I would try to score a 36mm Datejust or the new 38mm Aqua Terra with the colorful dials if I were you. Fortuitous that Omega is in a position where Rolex discontinued the stella dials on the OPs, I would jump on the opportunity to get a terra cotta or a saffron dial to add to the collection. Good hunting!

I thought skydweller was too big for me too. Been wearing my jubilee white for about 9 months. Really really like it. Wife gave thumbs up on size. Requesting blue dial.
