Welcome and good question! My guess is either that there's simply no space on the dial or that it traditionally didn't have a date (when it was introduced in the 1960s) so they simply went with tradition and excluded a date with the modern versions...but I hasten to add that I'm no expert and others more knowledgeable than I will probably enlighten us.

Welcome and contratulations Carlos.
I wore a datejust for about 12 years before I got my daytona 6 months ago. Just before I bought the Daytona I did wonder and wished the Daytona had a date. BUT now (I stare at my daytona first thing in the morning, last thing at night and all day in between) I can tell you that I absolutely love the Daytona just as it is.
As John Holbrook rightly says the daytona dial is simply the most beautiful dial to look at.
I sincerely hope Rolex does not ever put the date and spoil the Daytona.

A date will make it look too complex.

So you would have to buy a Day-Date as a second Rolex for when you want a date

I know that the Daytona is a classic Rolex watch.
But if imo they were to place a date on it, that would make it complete.

Congrat's for your watch Carlo!

Hopefully Rolex didn't put a date on the dial, this will IMHO overcharged the dial. It is currently perfect so!

Wear it in good health

Hi Carlo,

It's funny I asked my father (another WIS) the same question after receiving a Daytona from my wife as a b-day present. His reply was "simple elegance my son"! Then he brought out his black faced 6263 & 116520 & made me look at them in detail. After a few minutes, I had to agree w/ his reply.

He also added that if you wanted a date on a fine chrono, you should get a Tudor Big Block, which he does have as well!

Congratulations on your Daytona & I wish that you wear in great health!

I suspect that if Rolex started putting dates on the Daytona, it would be a sign that they are desperate for business. They seem to have a reputation for being extremely conservative in changing their designs.

Well, i guess lets put this way. The daytona is the easiest watch to adjust time.
