Where are all the incomings??

As a fellow enthusiast patiently waiting for my SA to call about a Sea-D or white dial Sky-D I live vicariously through you folks on TRF with all the incomings.

However, I've noticed a significant drop in postings. What's going on out there?

From my perspective I do not believe that there necessarily has been a drop in those posts...there just seems to be an increase in....other...types of posts that may have given the appearance that people aren't getting watches as frequently as they did in the past?

Or, perhaps people have turned to other channels of displaying their new watches that garner thumbs up and likes and karma and follows and the rest of it all :)

New de facto requirement: 50k jewelry spend before granted SS men's reference.

Things tend to get quiet at this time of year. I don't know if the volume of deliveries to ADs reduce or cease during the European August shut down, but past observations suggest that as we slide into Q4 and towards year end, the noise tends to increase and grey market values either solidify or creep up somewhat. Time will tell.

It seems the professional watches hit the ADs in batches. Wasn't long ago when everyone was suddenly getting Daytonas. Probably just in between batches at the moment.

Seems a little quiet and muted around here recently, not exactly sure why. Maybe we're just in a summer lull

No that can't be it - the speculators and investors send their pieces to DavidSW etc. They don't post about it here.

The only possible explanations:
1) Less watches available to TRF enthusiasts
OR
2) The TRF enthusiasts don't feel like posting

IMHO, People are just getting fed up with the games ADs are playing. I've personally just gotten to the point I don't care anymore and only go on the forums once a week. I use to be on here daily and it was nice seeing all the new stuff. Now it's all games ADs play and Rolex allows it. The whole brand has made me question my "why give a crap" factor.

The forum overall in the past few months has slowed down in posts compared to early this year.

Much less speculators here and watch chats (reddit and elsewhere). Watches are still flowing into the ADs more than ever, but it seems genuine enthusiast and end-users are getting the calls.

There will be posts of folks mentioning a new watch, but not necessarily creating a brand new thread dedicated to it. Just my observations.

Just sent you a PM. Our shared AD hasn't come through for me either. Pretty much given up, honestly.

My AD told me straight to my face that my 20k spend wasn't enough, I'd have to make a "big splash" in order to differentiate myself. Started showing 40k sapphire rings.

I know for certain my days of buying via an AD are over. I can figure out a way to get 10k for a SS Rolex that I'll wear for decades but no way I can justify the extra jewelry. Not getting squeezed by the recession, just not willing to jump through such hoops.

If I'm fortunate enough to get another Rolex it will be via Grey.

I hear you. Honestly, my AD has some lovely jewelry, but I only wear one piece, my sterling Cruzan hook bracelet. I have no wife/GF to buy for, so can't go that route.

I think people are just busy this time of year, though it does seem a bit more quiet than before. I know I have been outdoors and have a lot going on, but then again we here in the great frozen north have to take advantage of the few nice weeks we get in between winter!

I did pick up one of the new Mint Green DJ's, but haven't had the time to take any pics or post about it.

If any AD or any other business told me I would have to spend a X amount to be able to buy any of the products they sell, I would tell them quite politely the second word is off .

Exactly! And I would spread the word via any means possible not to do business there.

^this here. Like it or not, the "market" for Rolex has forever changed how owners view their Rolex watches.

Been mostly on Reddit since they don't to censor certain posts. Lots of incoming activity on reddit.
