Frozen Rolex

My YM was gaining 2.5 s/d on average after 11 days. I put it in the freezer 1h, came back to 2 s/d, from +27s to 25s. Working fine. Is it safe...?

Why put it in the freezer? is this a technique I'm unaware of?

I think I'd rather do the watch on food pic instead. Nah, nevermind.

I've done this a few times, no issues. Never left them in there for more than a few hours though.

Man, I would not think that is a great idea. If it’s on your wrist when it is cold out at least your wrist keeps it a bit warmer. I would be afraid that the rubber and metal would have different coefficients of expansion and the waterproofing gets compromised. Our Subzero gets to 5F.

Bro you're on the right track. Try 40mins at 200°c in the oven. Thank me later

2.2 billion francs in sales and 30% growth.

Seems like a fine business to me even if not number 1.

Interesting experiment Victor, what was the freezer temperature? To slow down I would have warmed and not cooled the watch.

The movement lost 2 seconds in 1 hour, which results in -48 s/d!

Only if you remove it from the freezer then immediately submerse it in boiling water to thaw.

On a serious note:
Sub freezing temperatures are outside the normal operating temperature. I would be concerned about gaskets, Lubricants and the crystal. Best not to I think. No need to subject your watch to those extremes unless you prepared to pay for the repairs.

It was designed and engineered to withstand anything you can and maybe a little more. I would not freeze myself solid, Nor would I do that to my watch.

I’m pretty sure I read Tom Brady freezes himself solid during the offseason

I'll just reset my Tudor Submariner from time to time. After my Army time and life in general, it deserves a little break.

That brings back memories of walking from the parking lot to the building in the dead of Winter where I worked in Central PA ... as opposed to the coldest low on record for mid-August for Jacksonville today, 64 degree! Bring it on!

Tried something similar.

Put my iPad in the microwave because the wifi wasn't loading very quickly. It totally ruined the iPad and now it doesn't turn on.

So I'd be careful

I think you should have asked "is it safe to do this" BEFORE you did it.

Really curious for Padi or someone knowledgeable to chime in on what kind of damage this potentially did to gaskets n such....don't think I'll be trying it anytime soon.
