Submariner 124060 or Wimbledon 126334?

Hi Guys

Need some genuine advise here as I’m punching well above my weight to buy a Rolex (from grey market, I know I can’t wait for ADs and their games) which I plan to keep for a long time and use occasionally; mainly for events, so I want something that can increase in value

I love the look of both the Sub no date and DJ 41 Wimbledon fluted bezel

Which one will increase in value the most and are there any alternatives in that price range (£11,000) that I should consider?

Thanks

Don't buy a watch because of what you believe it will be worth, get one that means something to you. You'll be much happier in the long run.

The Sub will appreciate 5% more than the Datejust, unless the Datejust is on Jubilee, then the Datejust will appreciate 2% more than the Sub. That is over a 20 year investment timeline, obviously.

But What if the datejust has a white dial ? Will it still appreciate at the obvious rate of 2% over a sub or will if nudge that 2.25 % appreciation rate. Just saying.

I have both.

The Submariner, to me, is the one watch I would own, if I only owned 1 watch.

Both are beautiful. Both are multifunctional. Both will hold their value, being Rolex, perhaps the Submariner more over time.

In the end, pick which of those two great watches you would enjoy wearing most.

Really, with those models you should try an AD and be patient, especially since you’re buying for some investment purpose and to only use for events. Why would you pay a premium going grey for something you will rarely wear? Of the two, I prefer the DJ.

Thanks, I’ve been on a waiting list for the Datejust for 4 months now and no AD will put me down for the sub. I feel like I have no option :/

Sorry but this is blatantly false.

OP: Try to check these out as exhibition pieces at an AD or maybe local used/preowned sales in your area. In my personal experience the DJ stands head and shoulders above the sub, but I recognize we all have different tastes and opinions

Uh….lol no it isn’t. If you recognize we all have our own taste, then why target my post and say it is false? I had them all, in my opinion the subs crush the datejusts every day, in every way. If you can’t get a datejust or basic sub at retail, I’d recommend another hobby.

The “blatantly false” part was not about your taste in watches. It was in reply to your absurd claim that the Submariner is easily bought at any AD.

The part about watch comparison was explicitly addressed to the OP, which is why he wrote “OP:”.

If is easy. ADs have plenty of black subs.

Are we talking about watches here or College football game day? Weird language to apply to a watch comparison.

My friend who never bought a Rolex wanted a black sub. I referred him to my AD and he received it in 4 days. Another person I just met is building a house across the street from me. Referred him, he will get it shortly. You have to network.

Depends on your profession. If you are a professional diver get the sub, anything else get the DJ

I bought a 36mm DJ (silver smooth bezel, oyster) from my AD in August 21 and was offered a Sub Date 6 months later which I declined.

I was then offered a 124060 last month which I bought and they bought my DJ back from me for more than I paid for it.

From personal experience this is the way to go, play the AD game, wear the DJ for a year and think of the profit from the DJ as a discount on the 124060.

Was it a WOS group or another Independent AD?

It was my local independent. I went to Goldsmiths in June 21 and never heard a thing from them. I called in a couple of times but was basically told I'll stay at the bottom of the 'list' without purchase history.

What's you plan if the economy crashes soon and these watches are available again at 10% discount, meaning your used DJ will be worth 40% less than what you paid for it?

Buy the watch you want to own and wear hopefully in good health for many years to come now thats far more important than any perceived ££$$€€ value can assure you.

so many reason's i will say the Submariner 124060 is a better choice but it's just a matter of preference.

What good is future value if you plan on keeping the watch. That said, I’d go with the Datejust, it’s beautiful
