Is there room for both of these in my collection? VC and Reverso

I currently have the reverso ultra thin in rose gold. I love the watch and the way it fits. I have the opportunity to pick up the VC 1912, which is also rose gold. Both watches are rose gold and both have Arabic numerals. The reverso is more Art Deco whereas the VC isn’t. The tonneau shape is obviously a bit different than the reverso. Are the watches too similiar? Will I need to swap the reverso for another version in steel? Or are the shapes dissimilar enough that keeping both wouldn’t be redundant? For what it’s worth I’m just a small collector, so some degree of diversity in my collection is important. Thanks!

I’d say no. Unless you are very formal and/or have a large collection

I do work in a pretty formal field and wear suits daily. For what it’s worth, I also have a black submariner and two tone datejust. Pretty much covering the sports side of things

I was leaning “no” until you said suits are your daily. Plenty of opportunity for both. They are similar but definitely different vibes.

Thanks for the input. Worst case scenario I could move the reverso for a steel version. However part of what drew me to this one in the first place is that it says time only with no small seconds. They do make this version in steel, but it would seem like a downgrade going from precious to steel despite very little price different. I wish JLC made more reverso in yellow gold

If you add the gold VC, I would get a steel Reverso.
It wouldn't feel like a "downgrade" to me at least, as Reverso was originally made in steel as it was a sports watch, so getting it i steel is more of a heritage thing + the difference between it and VC would be much bigger

I wouldn’t keep these in a small collection. Most will probably say stick with the Reverso but I would take the VC by a mile.

They’re different enough in my books.

Besides, some of us here collect Subs, and GMTs which look pretty similar too

If you like dress watches, these two are different enough to both be in a collection, even a small one, in my opinion. The case shapes, lugs, dials, numerals, hands, and crowns are all different. You could always put the JLC on a brown strap to further differentiate it and wear it with brown shoes and belt. Also, the fact that you're considering the Vacheron indicates you want it. it is a beautiful watch too.

Would it change anyone's opinion if I put the reverso on a lighter brown strap?

Thing is, without knowing if you have other VC's or JLC's, if either is a first piece, both are elegant options. Be very sure that there are no other VC or JLC different models that would delight you more. I myself regret scratching an inch, but with the pieces I got earlier instead of waiting, I will probably part with those 2 pieces, they won't get in my rotation.

A reverso does offer more flexibility to suit multiple occasions.

I like them both, but if you do not dress for more formal occasions on a regular basis, I would thin one of them is enough IMHO

Sure there is room for both in a collection! They wear differently, and look completely different.
