Daytona Height
I've been looking into Daytona's and reading a lot about how they wear small. I started looking at the dimensions and getting some conflicting info. Is it true that Datejust II is taller than a Daytona? I sold a Datejust II because it felt and looks so much smaller than my GMT's and Subs. Do Daytona's really sit lower on the wrist than the Datejust II?

Yes.
That’s kind of the charm for me. If you get the black dial ceramic it will look larger. Basically if you get Similar color dial and bezel it will look larger. If you get yellow gold OF with black dial… If you get precious metal it will also feel larger. The rose gold and brown dial, the colors blend in together and make the watch look small. But it’s so beautiful. |

Ialways thought the Daytona looks and wears big on average in pics and videos but when I finally saw one in person, I was so shocked at how small it was. And always wondered what the hype was about and why people go crazy for it.

I don’t have the current ceramic model but did have a earlier 16520 which I eventually traded towards a 116520 (both pre ceramic models). Both certainly wear noticeably smaller when compared to a ceramic sub or gmt. I believe the case size on the Daytonas are 38.5 or so.

Welcome to the forum
Yes the Daytona wears low on the wrist and it also wears “small” compared to other professional references. Many like that, because it’s comfortable for daily wear. |

Yup and why the Daytona is perfection on the wrist as it’s balance is why any size wrist can wear it.

A datejust ii is close to a sky dweller, way bigger than a Daytona

I have owned both (36mm DJ) and the 116520 and the 116520 was thinner (of felt that way). I have many issues with the Daytona, but it may be the most perfectly proportioned watch I have ever owned.

Rolex dimensions aren't "accurate".
the 116500LN is 38.4MM the precious metal variants are bigger probably 39.5MM but I'll be sure to measure soooon. |

That is the remarkable bit to have a automatic movement of this caliber which is this thin. Even the likes of Omega's manual wound watches which are thicker than an automatic daytona.

The thinness of the Daytona is noticeable compared to a gmt or sub. It definitely wears smaller all around.
I cannot comment on the comparison to a datejust myself Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have a 7 3/4 wrist and a few 46mm Panerai and the Yachtmaster II.
Anyone who says the Daytona is too small doesn’t own one. The watch is perfectly dimensioned, including the thickness, lug size and overall proportions. Rolex hit the ball out of the park with the design of the case and the dimensions. That's the reason why, unlike every other Rolex model since the 80s, it hasn’t been meddled with over the years and decades. The Daytona has maintained essentially the same case since the release of the zenith in 1988. 34 years of perfection.

I think the Daytona is perfectly sized and proportioned for the style and I have a large wrist. I wouldn’t get a Daytona if I was you. You thought the DJ2 was small. The Daytona will feel a lot closer on the wrist to the old Explorer 39mm than the bulkier feeling DJ2

Daytona Height
I always felt that my old Platona wore heavy…
Beautiful, but heavy. Have had several over the years - SS, TT, YG, & Pt. - all worked well for me. I stopped comparing sizes after I left grade school FWIW. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

The Daytona is traditionally sized. Unless you have an enormous wrist it will be fine.
Light colored dials will cause the watch to appear to be larger, so if your worried about size stick with them. |

the daytona is perfect
anyone who thinks it is too small is breitling trash or is trying to justify not paying the money for it either way, good luck Quote:
