Authorized Service Center long wait for parts.....
My local AD is also a Rolex Authorized Service Center. My 2.5 year old 116610 was running consistently slow outside of specs. I have been playing the watch game for 30+ years and thought the watch just needed a regulation. I normally have a CW21 watchmaker friend do my regulating and he does it VERY quick. Thinking since the watch was under warranty though I would let the service center perform the work. After 2 weeks pass I inquire about the regulation. I am told they are just waiting on a mainspring from Rolex. I ask if the watch was regulated or fully serviced and told a full service was performed. Hey I'm not complaining about that. After 6 weeks I receive a call stating they are still waiting on the parts shipment and were just advised by Rolex to expect the shipment in the next 2-3 weeks. The conversations made me feel like they had not received any parts shipments in the past 6 weeks but I did not feel it was my place to outright ask. Roughly 2 months for an AD / Authorized Service Center to receive a mainspring seems a little strange but maybe this is normal???
I thought something as common as a mainspring for the 3135 movement would be readily available. This is not a complaint, just curious if others may be having a similar experience. |

I actually tried to sell a 116610 to one of those big watch dealers that buys/sells. It was fairly older and probably needed a service. They refused to take it as they said there was a parts shortage.

Imagine they don’t get parts as quickly as the main RSC do as doubt something as simple as a main spring is back ordered

RSC London has ongoing parts shortages but not all parts are in short supply so it depends on what you need doing.

Rolex service has been slow recently. The excuses are many. Just last week I got a call from the AD stating "their watchmaker went on maternity leave" Lol..

I went in to get one link for my polar explorer II and BLNR. I was surprised that they did not have any extra links for the watches. I registered my interest in the links. Took four weeks to get the call.

I think it depends on the AD, my AD which is an authorized Rolex service center took 2 weeks to service my watch. It only needed a new crown.

I feel like this is a minorly poor omen for the CPO roll out, because after all that involves a service/certification.
Unless...Rolex is stockpiling parts for CPO certifications and slow walking current service to allow that build up. |
