Trouble reaching Hodinkee Insurance

Has anyone had trouble trying to get a hold of a live agent from Hodinkee Insurance via phone within the past 1-2 weeks? I’ve left messages for call backs but they've decided to email me instead with a reply. Like what? If I wanted to communicate via email I would’ve sent one to begin with.

It used to be before where someone would answer immediately when calling or if you left a voicemail they’d call back within minutes. It was one of the things that pushed me to switching to them a while back was because of how easy it was to get a hold of someone. Now they seem no better than other agents?

Had the same issue with Hodinkee/Chubb. Switched away from them after that.

I’ve been waiting to hear some feedback from fellow members using Hodinkee insurance, this isn’t a good sign.

In my experience, CHUBB (the actual underwriter) is set up where the agents deal with the customer interaction and not themselves. So this one is really on Hodinkee's processes and completely unrelated to CHUBB.

I’m aware. That’s why I didn’t mention Chubb in my original post because this isn’t related to them.

@Auric, sorry, I should have quoted prnceofpersia23 since that's the post I was intending to respond to.

What are you finding that you can't resolve insurance wise over email? Would seem item change, value change request, claim request would all be possible via email. Otherwise not hard to just have another authorized Chubb agency write the policy for you if you want to have customer service handled by phone?

Joke wise, I bet maybe everyone is still in Switzerland for W&W.

Mine is a complex request and isn’t like the examples you’ve provided, so it’s best discussed over the phone. Most would find it weird that they can respond to emails but don’t answer the phone or provide call backs. As a result, I’m currently in the process of getting another Chubb policy from a different agent and cancelling my Hodinkee one.

My point in starting this thread was to inform others who may be unaware or experiencing the same issue. Despite being a bit pricey Hodinkee was originally advertised as being for the WIS/watch enthusiast and being easily reachable. That’s not the case anymore it seems. Also I chatted w/ prnceofpersia23 and he experienced these issues a few months ago so it’s nothing to do with W&W or the recent AP news.

I should have been clear, I’m not blaming Chubb. I mentioned their name since they partner as the underwriter.

Candidly, I'm actually unsure as to why anyone would use Hodinkee, as opposed to Chubb directly. I priced out both, and you're definitely paying a slight premium to use Chubb via Hodinkee. Why not use Chubb directly?

Most Chubb agents won’t write a standalone personal articles policy without pairing with at least another line of coverage (homeowner’s, auto, etc). That’s why I originally opted for Hodinkee because I didn’t want to move everything over at the time.

Odd, that wasn’t my experience at all. They were happy to write a policy with no strings for just two watches.
