What are your best tips for cleaning/washing the watches?

How do you keep your watches in clean and fresh condition?

It’ll be nice to hear your tips on cleaning in the most efficient and gentle way.

I like going through the drive-thru car wash with my arm out the window.
Two birds, one stone.

For waterproof ones:

It's described in the Rolex booklet but here's what I use:

Dishwashing liquid, very soft toothbrush, lukewarm water, hand towel to dry.

For those which are not waterproof, I prefer a damp, lint-free cloth.

Just use any soap and water that will not damage yourself, just rinse well in clean water after, pat dry with any clean cotton type cloth thats all thats needed. Most Rolex watches today especially the SS are made from one of the strongest toughest materials made by man and dont need any sort of pampering.

If one of my watches gets unusually dirty, I wipe that with a wet baby tissue and one drop of added neutral PH liquid soap, then dry it up with another tissue. That's all for me and my watches :)

If it's a Rolex, take a shower with it. For me, on occasion, i'll also take it off the wrist and use Neutrogena Rainbath and it always comes out nice and clean.

I always take a shower with it when I feel it needs cleaning. It’s much better that way.

Shower, soft tooth brush, dab of body wash works perfectly.

Interesting development. I presume Esmeralda or Tiffany or whatever her name is, isn’t deceased either?

i prefer the cat method, where i laboriously lick every square millimeter of my watch, each watch takes a good half hour or so to complete. then pop it right back on the wrist and i'm good to go.

The cat method works well for crystals. My dog does the cat method on the remainder of the watch at least 3 times a day.

Years ago when I bought my first Rolex I mistakenly used the wrong soap and water as well as a used tooth brush, and this happened.....

I now employ the system I mentioned above.

You have to admit though, that any spunk that was on that watch is now gone

Sometimes sadly, I just don't realize my own strength.

Definitely a rookie mistake.

I’m sure it must have been painful to see your watch go from good to bad. So sorry about that.

I use a mild soap and a baby toothbrush, and dry it with a Rolex cleaning cloth. It’s definitely important to get gunk out from between the links.
