Changing bracelet GMT Master II Pepsi

So I have my new GMT Pepsi on its way and was wondering if anyone ever changes the bracelet out? Looking for something like a flex bracelet like the oyster flex to wear for a less dressy occasion and wasn’t sure if changing bracelets is a thing. Forgive me, my first Rolex and coming from the Apple Watch world!

If you have done this please share pics!

Thanks in advance!

Lots of people change their bracelets. You are going to want to get the Bergeron tweezers and then watch some YouTube videos on how to do it. Now as to what you are going to put on it as a replacement that is totally up to you.

I have seen YouTube videos where people use push pins to remove the bracelet. Not sure if that is advisable or not so do your research first.

If you’re OCD and care about not “damaging” the lugs make sure to get a good pair of tweezers and tape your lugs. Don’t cheap out and buy one from Amazon as the prongs may not fit or they could be flimsy and you might risk slipping and scratching your watch.

And yes I learned from personal experience.

For sure! Any that you recommend? And any videos on how to tape the lugs etc?

A Bergeon tweezer (see Triwater's post) would do although they are a bit pricey. The ones on Amazon with interchangeable forks can work but you just need to be more careful.

You can probably Google it, I learned by trying so learn from my mistake lol.

This is my OCD method, other members might find these unnecessary but this is the easiest and safest way for me.

- Tape the lugs both top and bottom. I use packing tape since they're a bit thicker and anything making contact will slide right off.
- Remove a link from the bracelet so you can lay the watch flat and don't have to work around the bracelet to get into the spring bars.
- Lay the watch on the crystal side, case back pointing towards you (make sure it's a padded surface)
- Squeeze the spring bar and slide the bracelet/SEL out and up while squeezing the spring bar. Repeat for the other side.
- Put in the new strap or bracelet the same way with the case back pointing up. If you do make a mistake at least the scratch or nick will be on the bottom...it hurts a little less.

Good luck!

Personally I wouldn't it to a 126710BLRO. I have way too much respect for that watch. If it were a 16710, especially with lug holes, then that's another story.

Get these. Will save your lugs and sanity. Just mind the spring bars as they like to wander off.

Please don’t put an oyster flex on the GMT stick with the original bracelet.

BLRO works best on Jubilee. I tried Oyster on mine and changed it back immediatly, it didn't look right to me at all.

I heard that the oyster BLRO is rarer. For every 5 jubilee, they make 1 oyster, not sure if that's true.

Wouldn’t be surprised. You do see most of the BLROs on jubilee. And for good reasons. It’s pure genius on that bracelet.

The Bergeron 7825 is the tool to have. It makes a world of difference. Open the bracelet by removing a screw before touching the springbars. Get the technique down of leaving the bracelet and tool still while moving the watch head to remove the bracelet. There are some YouTube videos

Don’t cheap out on a springbar tool for your expensive watch. You get what you pay for. Bergeon is the best. If the prongs are too wide be prepared to shape them to fit on a whetstone or diamond lap. I use mine every day (watchmaker). Go slow and be very careful and you can avoid slips and scratches. I also prefer to remove a screw from a bracelet link to open the bracelet up for safer, unobstructed springbar removal.

That’s a good tip, never thought about but makes a lot of sense. Thanks

Who cares if it’s a thing or not. If you like it, it’s your watch. Do what makes you happy.

With that said, I personally use rubber b and get extra springs bars from the AD.

For rubber straps, go with Rubber B or Everest.

I have jubilee, Oysterflex and oyster bracelets I swap between my Daytonas and GMT’s. It’s easy and awesome to change it up.
