Sky dweller vs day date

I know I’m going to get bias answers. Second it’s all personal preference. Well no harm asking for peoples opinions .

Oyster rose brown face
Oyster rose grey face
Oyster yellow black face
Day date rose brown diagonal face
Day date rose brown Roman

Would you want something that holds the best value and of course looks.

Ok, so you could definitely carry off either.

Nice choice to have btw.

I’m a fan of the Sky D in steel. I just think the size and weight in steel balance nicely.

Full gold Sky D is a heavy piece and it’s also quite top heavy.

I think with full gold it can be better to size down slightly, because the gold has so much presence.

Bear in mind fit with both of them. You’ve only got Easylink on the SkyD to find that perfect fit for a heavy watch, and the DD has no adjustment at all.

I’d say have a few tries with them at the AD, that’s going to be the deciding factor.

I’m nearer 8” and I’d go steel Sky D and DD for gold.

Stainless sky is impossible to get. Have a ss panda so I wanted to go gold. SS has a better resale but a gold is always better 😂

True, SS is trickier to get. It wears so nicely on the Jubilee though, and SS is the only way to get it :)

With your size you’ll probably carry off the Sky D great.

Full gold, my preference is actually the Sub. I like the clasp adjustment. I also accept that there’s an absurdity to full gold watches and the Sub in full gold is more absurd :D

I would want the one I like the most. I have tried on a RG Sky Dweller and it didn't suit me . I think a DD would go better on me but I'm not strongly inclined to go there. I don't care about value retention. Each to our own.

It depends. I have a Skydweller blue and an a frequent traveller. But despite this, I would change it for a rose gold or white gold day date.

If it were me with that wrist size…I’d try them both on first, but I’d be thinking SkD as my first thought.

I have a similar wrist size and have owned them all. I have landed on the Sky-Dweller for the size, complication, fit and overall appearance. The DD is a classic and is very iconic in the Rolex line-up but it has no bracelet adjustment other than adding or removing links and I found it difficult to get a good fit daily. The Sky-Dweller has the Easy Link system and I can get a good fit all the time. I do not find the Sky-Dweller to be top heavy but I wear my watch to fit, not tight or loose. You also do not see Sky-Dweller very often and it is the most complicated watch Rolex produces. Pick your metal and get the Sky-Dweller.

Oyster YG Sky… love everything about that watch and often daily it for weeks at a time..

DD doesn’t do it for me, better alternatives out there in a similar category

I have both, and they are very different watches. DD is sleek and classic, while SkyD is fun and sporty with some bling. Both have weight, but SkyD is heavier, and most noticeably, thicker.

Whatever you do, get YG over the rose.

You're right. It's all personal preference.

Mine would be the Sky in SS, bc (IMO) it wears better.

If we're talking PM, the DD40 feels much more balanced and TBH, more of a natural daily wearer. My two cents.

DD for me
I'd rather have the thinner profile and don't need a gmt

Out of the ones you listed I would get YG Oyster with black dial. I don't like the DD in rose.

If I wore a suit daily and traveled a lot for business I would go with the SD
Luckily I don't wear a suit often and when I travel I do not dress up so I went with the DD 40.
You gotta try them both on, see what you like and which better suits your needs.
You can't go wrong with either.
IF you don't use the features of the SD its a busy dial in my eyes.

If you're going for a wider audience, I think day date is a better choice because the proportions of the watch work better for more people

As others commented, the skydweller is awesome as well but it's a big watch.

I own both references but my skydweller is a SS on Jubilee. DD40 is YG

Sky Dweller in rose (326935) with slate dial is the most beautiful watch Rolex makes IMO ! Especially for a larger wrist.

It's totally personal preference, no wrong choice, go with the one you love the most.

For me I love my blue SS Sky D and RG Day-Date Olive dial.
