Skydweller or DJ 41?

I currently have a sub-c in my collection and adding a second watch
Love both the DJ and Sky. Had my AD put my name for both. Of course - DJ came in first. I reslly do like it but should I have went with a sky? Should I keep the DJ and then potentially trade in future? Just don’t want to lose a ton of money on it. I know it’s going to take quite some time for AD to get it so I’m willing to wear this until it comes. Really do like it though but love the sky too (does sit a little thick on my wrist). Thanks!

I got the white stick dial DJ 41 on jubilee with fluted bezel.

Check with your AD regarding trade in. If they implement the CPO, then they may not accept a trade in inside 3 years. Personally, I’d go for the Skydweller.

What do you mean it wears a little thick? Really? Can we see a wrist pic? You can probably sell it, for more than you paid, when a Sky D becomes available, so I’d buy it, if it were me.

I like the skydweller but not sure how long it'd realistically take

Dentists must like skydwellers

Which AD have you visited? Orrs or Henne? I’m on the list for a skydweller at both locations.

There's only one person who can truly answer that question.

Speaking only for myself, I have never met a Sky Dweller I didn't love. I've racked up three of them and I don't see any reason to buy a DJ. I'd rather have another Sky Dweller. Eye of the beholder, taste of the beholder, wrist of the owner, and all that. You do you.

The configuration you have in the DJ is perfect / classic and a great 2 piece with the sub.

I don't see any reason to trade it in for basically the same watch asthetically minus the calendar (as great as the Sky is obviously)

When I got my SkyD my two DJ became obsolete. They are both gone. Never looked back.

The SkyD with all its complications is awesome and one of my favourites.
I’d still love to wear a DJ though

I love the Skydweller and the way it wears. Great wrist presence yet not to big and a great complication. Enjoy your DJ and think it over.

The Date Just is great for now and is a classic Rolex icon. Depending on your wrist size and how and where you choose to wear it I think a DJ, Submariner and a Sky-Dweller can all live in a collection. Wear the DJ for a while while you wait for the Sky-Dweller and when it comes in, just decide. No reason to wait on the DJ as you maybe waiting for a while for the Sky-Dweller.

Love them both but the sky dweller is the more interesting watch.

This is just my experience of course, but I had a SkyDweller, and never could get in to it; ended up selling it after about six months. I tried to, really really did, as I was lucky enough to get one when they were extremely difficult to come by, but… I posted a thread on here about the reasons, briefly I did not like the way it wore on my wrist, the 42 size seemed awkward, (where as the 42 Explorer II felt fine). It was a complicated dial to read and took more then a quick glance to see the time, etc. Anyway, in the end, of course it is up to you and I wish you the best, but for me, I enjoyed wearing my DJ 41 more.

I may be the odd ball and admittedly haven’t owned a Skydweller, but I would go DJ41.

It’s just so comfortable and easy to wear. Small case profile molds to your wrist pretty well, and the simplicity of the dial is great IMO over the Skydweller.

I mainly never got into the Skydweller because I don’t like dial, I understand it has a function but just don’t care for it much. (Some colors are far superior to others however)

My DJ41 is almost the same configuration as yours and even though I have more interesting watches in the box (only marginally) the DJ is just such a perfect fit in everywhere, go anywhere do anything watch. IMO the white dial is one of the best as well.

DJ is a far superior looking and wearing watch. You got the right piece.

I think we in the "Watch world" really have blinders some times. The SkyD looks horrible but we're enamored with it's rarity.

If I were really honest with myself, the DJ41 would be my one and only watch. Plus an Apple Watch of course for bike riding and working out.

Fact is, I really don’t need any other watch. The DJ41 is pure perfection.

I bought a DJ41 less than a year ago (blue dial/fluted/Jubilee) and really enjoy wearing it. I honestly have no interest in the Skydweller and would not buy one if offered one (aside from a profit motive). I've tried on a couple of dial colors of the SD at the AD (demos) and it's just a 'not for me' piece. That's just me anyway. It's not loved by EVERYONE.

Personally I wouldn’t bother with the SkyD
I’ve owned the DJ41 and always wanted a SkyD but when I eventually got one it just seemed too similar to the DJ and wasn’t worth the extra expense so I sold it

I had that model dj and it’s awesome. Unless you need a gmt I’d stay put. Congrats

I’d go DJ….unless you have a very large wrist and are ok with unnecessarily thick watches.

The SkyD is 42mm and although that isn’t a dealbreaker as long as your wrist is at least 6.75’’ (wears best on over 7”) it’s the height that kills it. Rolex needs to make it thinner….and the ~1mm thinner that the new one is, is still not enough.

The side by side pic above of the DJ and SkyD is just camera distortion. The SkyD is absolutely a lot bigger in all dimensions than a DJ41 and most notably its thickness.
