1967 Rolex White Gold 1803 Day-Date Doorstep Dial No Lume

Need to get a bracelet for it. Thinking about a Alligator Skin leather bracelet as I inherited this watch and I don’t think I could justify anything else. Need to get it polished and refurbished. As well I suspect the crystal has been replaced with a generic. Anyone know what a new crystal and refurbishing may cost? Ball park?

Would love to see better photos. Probably a couple hundred bucks for a crystal, and a $700-$800 for a movement service at a good vintage independent. I’d skip the polish.

Full service for my 1803/9 - including replacing a dial - came to IIRC CAD2300 at the RSC on St Clair? Watch came back looking good. There are other options of course.

I‘m not sure but I think a non tritium dial should have non lume hands, or?

Lumed hands on a no-lume dial can be correct (though the opposite cannot).

Hard to tell from those pics. Some times they ‘lume’ on the hands are black paint.

Rolex collectors has a very weird view of watches (no offense to all of you here!) in that they want them 100% original even if that means looking terrible. You're gonna see a lot of responses telling you to not polish it/etc.

If you're not looking to sell this, I say do whatever you want to make the watch look nice and perform well and get it to a point that you're proud to wear it.

I don't look at my watches as investments, I look at them as things I like to wear... so getting them looking nice with a gentle polish is fine to me.

Send it in to Mike at Rolliworks. hes the only guy I trust. A gentle polish wont hurt.
