Fuchsia query
Hi everyone,
I'm searching for a fuchsia insert with more vivid colors than the one I have (which I will sell later). Is the one below legit/correct? Yes! It's pink/fuchsia on the back, no problem there. Look at the number "18", is not sitting closer to the dial. Is this ok? Thanks for your help. HAGW |

I don't know about finding one that is more "vibrant in color." That appears about as vibrant as they get.
My concern would be whether it is genuine or not. Maybe this fake fuchsia thread will help you out. https://gmtforum.com/viewtopic.php?f...7f1dfcd0abc447

Fuchsia query
There are some really good replica, fake whatever you want to call it. I’m fairly certain the good ones have blue backs.
Ones so good they made it into Phillips auction fyi. The guy that made them did so for the guys who can’t afford a real one and not to scam people, so they have blue backs. I would join Springers GMT forum. |

Thank you both.
Always a pleasure to read John (Springer) when it comes to GMT |

I recently went down this rabbit hole and realized there are a decent amount of fakes out there. something about the bezels being too perfect always raises my alarm.... if that makes sense. a bezel with vibrant colors and no wear could be upwards of 15k. these are 50yr old bezels, so some wearing is expected. that is why i am hesitant when they are too perfect, but certainly some exist(I am lucky enough to have picked one up)
Real inserts have red/fuchsia backs. service have blues. check this website out the webpage - great resource - gmtmaster1675 com/the-bezel |

GMT inserts that changed colors from red to fuchsia were found during the late 1960s. Of course they all started out as red backs. All GMT bezel inserts had blue back inserts which were standard from around 1984 onward.

The insert in the pic is the one offered. I know they are like that. The one I have is faded. My query is related to the legitimacy to the one in the pic. It caught my attention the "18" I see it like "away" from the dial, not so much close to it. Just that. I saw the back of it, looks good there. |
