Some say that Rolex should have made it - but they didn't.

It's not for me.

I have found that PVD watches look great on the web, and fall short in person. I've owned several PVD watches and flipped them due to the "cheapness' that the all black look gives.

I can see it for tactical reasons, but for every day, on the street, no way. Cheapens the brand IMHO.

Compared to the explorer one i showed last week i prefer it but it's just not right!
I'm sure there are many out there that would love this. I would never buy it but if i was given it free I'd certainly wear it & save my own original one from the day to day wear & tear!

whatever floats your boat as they say.Not for me. I have never had 1 to see what all the fuss is about. The copy's have flooded the flea markets recently. The idea of having only a Nato Strap as an option for that kinda money doesnt do it for me .But for some people it does.

What's with that pearl? Maybe it's the picture, but obviously it's no longer white (matching the markers) and it also appears to have some type of bleed-thru on the bottom...almost like moisture has gotten in.

The red lettering is nice...

I happen to like the looks of the Pro Hunter but how much extra does it cost for this treatment!!!
And it only comes on a nato strap???

Not only does it "only come on a nato strap", the bars are fixed and are not removable. The only way to get them out is to cut them.

I find them lame.

Some of the chatter between the prohunter folks and their critics really turned me off.

I also feel like these threads come along every so often by design. I think the prohunter people intentionally post on different watch boards to stir up interest. Everyone else has to pay for advertising.

And for the record, if someone gave me one, I would reverse the process, sell it, and buy an unmolested Rolex.

Tritium pearl?

Maybe just the pics, but the pearl in the bezel insert looks like an old tritium pearl?? I have never owned a pro hunter series...but they are kind of cool.

For me the thing about owning a Rolex is that in theory you could wear it a life time with little bother other than the odd service now and then.

PVD throws that out of the water for no matter how well applied it wears withing a couple of years leaving the ridges and other parts showing bare metal which to me looks cheap and not in line with the purpose of what Rolex is about. That's why I think we do not see Rolex doing it themselves!

I like the look of this watch but would never own it or any other modified Rolex.
To me, Rolex, like many other higher end watch brands like Patek, Vacheron, Grand Seiko and the like are in that untouchable catogory, the watches on the whole look right as they are and that includes bracelets I think. Can't stand Rolex's on NATO unless of course we are talking about the original bond

if this watch goes for servicing, what would ROLEX do to it? Refuse service?

ROLEX USA will NOT service these pieces. PRO HUNTER does have ROLEX cert'd techs and they service the warranty for 3 years as I understand it.
