For me, the only use for this watch would be as a true dive watch … and in that case, I wish the dial were bigger / matched the size of the watch.
It’s too thick, for me, to wear as a watch in the real world. |

kind of where I am at as well. To have it in a collection - well, just because is one thing which I get. But to wear it in any other setting than diving looks too contrived for me. But if it works for you, I say go for it!

It would look great on Shaquille O’Neal…
But for a normal sized human, I think it’s a big folks watch and a stay-in-your-lane watch for others.

Interesting watch, not for me. I am thinking about a Sea Dweller 43mm, though.

Is it for sale or display piece?
I think it's a fantastic release by Rolex! ... and it's finding place in serious dive watch collections!!! [Pic from Hodinkee/Rolliefest2023 article] |

Fantastic release for sure. I love the matt dial. It think the new YM42 Ti has similar dial which I'm after. I was there to chat with the SA and get an update on the new black Tudor pelagos FXD . To my surprise they had the new FXD for "exhibition only". I told him I've already got a strap for it. Just need the watch. We had a laugh. I'm sure the deepsea challenge is not for sale to most and for sale for the right clients. I have no history with this AD but just hit it off with the SA since I met him. I was there for like 45mins that day . we chopped it up tried different watches.overal a fun experience.

‘Not sure what the big deal is - for an instrument that is FOD, that’s compact! Once mine arrives it will be my daily driver !!

Come on people
If he can afford it and wants it who are we to go on and on how it's not for us. To each his own. Just take a chill pill and congrats to him for enjoying the watch.

Comparing to my jublee VTNR. The weight difference is significant. Feels almost doubled the weight and that extra weight is all on top.

I should clarify. No I didn't buy the watch. Saw it at my other AD that I'm working on building relationship with. Figured I play with it and show some photos here.
