Label Noir

Came across these in a store where I live. Label Noir out of Genève. Didn't know anything about this brand that apparently modifies Rolexes and other high end brands (Patek, etc).

While they claim that the ADLC finish is super tough, I can't help but think that would not age well, with SS eventually showing though every little scratch... Yikes.

I'm an engineer and have worked in product developement all my life. I've yet to see a finish that never wears out. I like my color to be part of the base material.

Anyone have one of these?

Price in CAD, but still works out to 30k USD.

That’s awful. Turned a Sub into an Invicta. That’s not a modification, that’s something else.

I do like some Artisans De Geneve, for modification, but this is awful

No touch for me. Agree with above that it is no longer a Rolex.

I have a few pistols in DLC that undergo hard use and it is incredible in durability but it is not corrosion proof.

I like the look of some of these! But as you've seen, the problem is if you ever want to sell it could be quite difficult

To each their own I guess. I've never seen a coating on anything exposed to wear that didn't scratch or wear off. It's probably some version of a DLC coating and it will show wear.

from the responses I see this sort of thing does not fly in this forum. I guess that's why I also didn't see any "look at my new iced out Daytona" posts.

Agreed, I wouldn't get one. Better to keep things stock.

Cars however, that could be another discussion

Unless that watch is treated like a museum piece or wrapped in packaging tape, it's going to look rough after a few months of wear. While those finishes are definitely tough, they absolutely show wear and can be abraded. Accidentally brush your watch hand up against a brick wall or concrete and the end result is going to be more than unsightly.

They bought a 10k watch, added a bit of paint, left it in their PVD machine and boom, 20k premium.

The older I get the less I like modifications.
Now….rare off catalog from the factory that is something special.

Very (and I mean VERY!) occasionally I come across a modified Rolex that I like the look of. This isn't one of them.

DLC is a serious bugbear of mine. For all the alleged durability it's still just a microscopically thin surface coating and if you catch it just right (or rather just wrong!) it's dead easy to scratch. I managed to scratch the clasp on my one and only DLC watch within a hour of owning it - purely by unlucky chance, but it put me off surface coatings forever more.
