New Crystal for F series sub-help please on cost??

I want a new Crystal for my sub as my Cyclops is off. I had a watch maker glue one on. He said it was genuine Rolex. It looked crappy. First off, it looked larger than the one on my brother in laws 50th anniversary sub and it really stood up off the crystal on all 4 sides of the cyclops. My watch is from 2003 F series. Secondly, the watch maker did a crap job of centering it. I had him immediately take it off. Now, I have a place that ordered a genuine Rolex crystal for me. They said it will be 220.00 installed. Does this sound high to you? Also, do they pressure test a watch after installing a new crystal? Especially since the old crystal was heated to remove the cycolps.

Sounds like you found a place and didnt ask if they are going to pressure check it etc. Did you take it to an AD?If so they will install it correctly. If not does the person have a Rolex parts account?Is it a genuine Rolex crystal?Where in Florida?

Pollacks Jewelers in Sawgrass Mills Mall, Coral Springs, FL. They are a gray market and pre owned Rolex shop as well as carrying other brands. I have purchased one Breitling new and two pre owned watches there.

They have been in business for many years and I have had relatives purchase there also. They had offered me after market and I declined. They said they could order a Rolex crystal ffor me. I am sure they must be getting it from the same places they get their watches from.

There's a lot going on here...........

Usually, any Rolex Dealer with a watchmaker on staff can order a crystal and install it.... 150 seems to be about the most talked about price, although if you are new to a Dealer, it could be 200 including labor and mark-up..

But, you say the crystal was "heated up" to remove the original cyclops... If not done carefully, this could damage the dial, lume, hands or other movement components, and drive the oils and greases away from critical parts............. a very dangerous operation in unskilled hands....

That, and the Sub is an F.... With all that going on, and the age of the watch......... It should be sent in....... Rolex will fully service this piece for about 500, install a new genuine crystal for about 150, refinish the case and bracelet, and pressure check it with a 1 year warranty........

It's the safest bet.......

The watch was serviced when I bought it last year. A watch maker that is refurbing a Breitling for me was the one that installed the cycops and then removed it at my request.
The current crystal has the Rolex at the 6 oclock position but was missing the cyclops when I bought it pre-owned and I kind of like the look without it. I have all the original papers and box. The papers even have the name and address of the previous owner and they lived about 15 miles from the AD according to mapquest. However, that store is not anywhere near me.

It is keeping very good time.

It shouldn't cost you more than $200. Go to any respectable Rolex dealer with technicians and they can fix you up within thirty minutes.

RSC would normally charge you about $120 installed.

I beleive 120-135 would be the cost while they were servicing the watch. If I was to send it back just for a crystal....I think it would be more.
