What would you recommend for the wife?
My wife has just come into some cash... £2500 to be precise
What watch would you buy if you were her? Ideally a ladies Rolex even though the current womens trend seems to be mens! Cheers in advance... |

When see prefers a date,
Buy the 15200. When time only, Buy the new model Airking of the grey market.

For about that amount of money I got my wife a pre-owned two tone lady datejust circa mid 90's. It really is the quintessential ladies watch, imitated over and over again. She looked at the "middle size" watches and thought they just looked overly large and goofy on her small wrist.
We got one without B&P because, unlike me, she's not a WIS and will never look to sell the watch. She beats the hell out of it and wears it all day everyday. Best thing is, I check the time on it about once a month to reset it for her, and unless the date needs changing it never needs changing at all. It keeps spot on accurate time. |

Deepsea! just kidding!
How about a SS/Plat midsize Yachtmaster or a two tone of the same if she wears more yellow gold jewellry than white metal jewellry. |

A little more than 2500.00, perhaps, but my frau loves her ss/platinum ladies Yacht Master.
Good luck

That's roughly about 5k. You can get a new SS DJ or a pre-owned TT DJ. That the current trend may be for women to purchase larger watches is of no consequence if your wife's taste is similar to mine; I prefer a 26 mm (ladies size) along with some others on this forum. What I would be looking at if I were you is what is her preference of metals? Does she want something new or is pre-owned acceptable? What would be her size preference? Good luck with your decision, and I hope you post pictures of the new acquisition.
Just went back for an exact conversion of 2500 pounds = $4,062.39 USD.

For £2400, you can get her a nice new steel lady's Oyster Perpetual - my recommendation would be the black Explorer-style dial with pink indices. Alternatively, you could get her a nice pre-loved steel Datejust

Last spring I purchased my wife a 90's TT Ladies Datejust with diamond markers for $2400. She loves it. There are a lot of options for your budget. The big thing is to determine what size she likes to begin with. Some women like midsize (31mm) and some like regular Datejust sizes (36mm). It is her preference. My wife looked at the mid and regular sizes but prefers the 26mm Ladies Datejust.
Have fun! |

ladies DJ
I agree, a TT Dj for the wife is always very classy, one of the quintessential ladies watches.
Lucky lady, her good luck, I'm sure she'll love it whatever she picks Cos |

I would recommend you take her watch hunting for a week and have her try on all the different models, shapes, and sizes.Than sleep on it and narrow it down to 3 and start all over. She will tell you the 1 she wants.Of course it will be a little more but this is where you come in and match what she got.

has to be the Airking.
The new style airking with engine turned bezel 114210, white or silver 3,6,9 dial. The new bracelet are clasp are just superb. Certified chronometer, great history, perfect size 34mm. The best value for money in the rolex lineup..IMHO.
P.S just got one for my wife for our 10th anniversary. SORRY- posted without reading all the posts. Great choice! Congratulations. |

Tt dj
I think a TT DJ with a white or gold face is a great choice and probably pretty affordable.

Thanks for all your suggestions...
She is definitely a 26mm girl.... When we first got married I brought her one of these Tags on honeymoon, and to be honest it's been great... daily beater and still looks as good as new (unlike my treasured 17 year old s/el that I lost last year ) Anyway... as you can see the s/el has a date window... someting she wants to keep with her new watch.... so we are looking at a 26mm datejust. She is not that keen on TT... but wants something that looks noting like her Tag that she loves to bits. Options now slightly more limited me thinks |
