It looks almost as nice as the Orange PO.

Great craftmanship and engineering but rather tasteless in style IMO.

But great if it floats your boat.

I agree not my taste either but I like the watch, if they took the ferrari emblem off and put Panerai on I would be interested. Kinda reminds me of the cheap porsche and corvette watches available on ebay.

Not my style either... I'd rather go with a Breitling Chrono Avenger.

Does anyone know what the yellow dot in the crown is for? Does it lock anything or is it just for decoration????

I'll guess! Its the steering wheel dot at top dead centre used in many race and rally type cars to aid in alignment???

Now if anyone knows the real answer I'm curious too.

I'm back!!

I've been lurking all along on my Q, but we have been in the process of moving into our new house, and I have been having fun playing with my four month old son and packing the last few months. I've missed Hutch, dman, and the rest of the Panerai clan!

The dot on the crown is for alignment-you face the dot up and then turn it clockwise 90 degrees to lock it down. I picked up one of the FER 0001 watches a few weeks ago and like it quite a bit-I wanted one for the collection, but didn't want to throw too much money at one as they don't appeal to me as much as the rest of the Panerai line. I have a new 188 Daylight on the way as well as a 90 that a customer of one of my companies is wanting to get rid of-I've gotta quit looking at the Panerai website!

Still have the Sub date and GMT II black bezel-had to keep those so I could still post here!

Later-
Dave

dman-it's good to be back!

I noticed the latest addition to the wife's collection in your post-Sweet! Where did you get the pink strap? My wife has been wearing my 000 lately and she thinks the HK TAN strap is a little bulky for her, and she doesn't like the stock rubber or black strap. I can't believe you got rid of your BASE-I guess it must be love!

I am awaiting my 188-it should be in my hands later this week. The dealer packed it up on Friday and sent it out registered mail. I would still like to add a bracelet model to the collection, but I have given up holding my breath for the 221. If anyone out there is reading this and there local dealer has a 221 sitting in the case please let me know!

Thanks!!
Dave

I have had two or three on the wrist and the black dialed ones are awesome. I really like the GMT model alot. Not enough to buy it, but I like it.

Atomic-
Thanks for the warm welcome back! The Ferrari is fun to look at, and I am glad it is part of the collection, but it probably won't see a lot of wrist time. What do you have in your collection now-it is always fun to talk with other Paneristi!

The only PAM I have is a PAM01B, circa 1999.

If you're gonna have only one that's a good one to have! When did they switch from the Tritium to Luminova? does that have the Tritium (hope the spelling is right for both of those!) I would like to add an older watch to my collection as I love the patina that the older "T" dials get...

Mine is an L dial. The T dials technically stopped in the A series, but a few slipped through into the early B series. Typically a T dial 01 will currently command about US$5-6000+. It seems now the L dial Bs price is creeping north too, since it's as close to pre-V as you can get without the insane premium.

Yeah, it seems like the older pre-V watches have been off the charts lately. I should have picked one up a few years ago before Panerai started gaining momentum, but back then I had only seen a few in movies and hadn't become quite as smitten with them as I am now. I should have picked a cheaper hobby!
