Oyster Flex or Precious Metal Bracelet

Hello I hope everyone is doing well. My heart is set on a rose gold Daytona with the Subdust dial. Reference #126515LN.

I’m leaning toward oyster flex because I like the look better and with guide lock adjustment added, it’s even more appealing.

Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to try on the full precious metal bracelet or the oyster flex so there’s no way of me knowing what I would like better.

If you were going for the newest model today, would you go full precious metal bracelet, or oyster flex? Why?

And last, but at least.. do you think it’s even worth my time trying trying to get it from the AD or just stick with my local grey dealer where I got all my current watches?

Ceramic bezel was such a huge upgrade with the Daytona that it wasn’t a contest for me.

With that said, the OF is incredibly comfortable and easy to daily if you want to do that. It will definitely be less blingy than a full RG watch as well. So it depends on what you’re looking for.

I’d wait on the AD. It’s a PM watch, and while a Daytona I think you’ll eventually get it within a year. That’s not so long of a wait for a $35k+ watch

I agree. Oysterflex is so comfortable it's surprising. The ceramic ring is also a big plus with OF. I also love the full PM but it is much more upscale and blingy. The OF version is understated and sporty. I'm am not a suit guy so I would go OF. The full RG version is a beauty but I would be too self conscious wearing that casually and would only use it on rare occasions. You can't go wrong with either, you just have to ask yourself what type of piece you're looking for.

I think I would love both. Who wouldn’t… they’re both beautiful pieces.

Which one would I wear more? I just feel like I would wear the oyster flex more because it goes with my style even at work. I typically don’t wear a suit. I just wear a button up and trousers with a belt and I typically wear, my Pepsi or my sky dweller as they’re both stainless steel and it goes with most of my outfits better for work plus, I own a business so I could wear whatever I desire… but that’s my typical style at work.. outside of work I’m more of a pants and T-shirt guy.

I really wish that I could put them on my wrist and compare them side-by-side. That would be the easiest way for me to make a decision.

Yeah, I’m not in a rush to get this watch I mean wouldn’t want this but I’m happy with my current collection.

I think I will try to play the dealer game and if I don’t get any hits before Christmas then I’ll move on .

Get the full PM watch - can't compare a watch on tires vs a watch on precious metal

I hear you, but they’re too completely different watches. I really wish you could swap the bracelets.. then it would be a no-brainer.

I think they both look amazing that’s why I’m asking, but I do like someone else’s idea of going bracelet and by a high quality strap for it.

You can sort of when the non tires run an extra 11k.

Go to a Boutique to try them out (Costa Mesa or Beverly Hills)
You and only you can make that call.

I went for the WG oysterflex which I thought was stunning in the flesh yet sporty and not too blingy. It is my favorite Rolex. But again, that’s me. You should make that call.

Also, it took me a year to get it at a Boutique with no prior purchase, so go that way if you can wait a bit.

Best of luck

Yeah, I’m at South Coast Plaza all the time I usually pop into the boutique on the weekend but it’s packed. I’ll just have to leave the office during the week and check it out then to beat the crowds. I doubt they would have either one in stock, but unless I go there and double check, then I’m just playing the guessing game. Thank you for your advice.

Both dream watches, but I'm awkwardly askew: I prefer the Oysterflex bracelet but the gold bezel. Very hard to choose a winner.

No wrong choice, it depends on your preference. If you like it both, just pick the one that becomes available to you first at your AD.

Given your location, I think there are some very large grey dealers who probably have both watches, so I would try on both. You have the opportunity to do this. Let us know what you did!

Oh yeah, I get all my stuff from a company called Happy Jewlers in Fullerton California. I’ve been going there since 2015 where I got my wife’s first wedding ring, and other jewelry plus watches they do have both.

The bracelet all the way. There are some very good options for rubber straps that can be fitted to the watches but really no options for a bracelet. I have owned the Yacht-Master 42 on the rubber strap a few times and while it is comfortable, for the money and the PM I want it on a bracelet. Go try them on and you will know.

In your opinion, is there some aftermarket ones that are at the same quality of the Rolex oysters flex?

Full PM. To me, paying that kind of coin for a watch on a rubber strap does not compute.
