How do you store or travel with your watches?

Hello everyone,

Could you share your preferred watch case for traveling or home storage?

I'm curious about what other collectors use to protect their watches.

I have a Bosporous case which I use for storage at home. Really good, but it’s now full. I think rather than another Bosporous I will add a Carapaz case next.

When travelling, I usually only take one watch and keep that on my wrist at all times, except when sleeping/showering etc. I do have an old Omega service pouch which is similar to a hard shell sunglasses case to ensure it doesn’t get squashed in case I do need to throw my watch in a bag at any point. I think there are some others who offer similar hard shell cases - I know Oakley used to do one, but this is no longer available.

In addition to the above I also have a couple of pouches from WatchPouch on Instagram. These are similar in style and function to the Rolex service pouches, but come in various styles of leather.

The Carapaz 8 watch case for home is very nice. I think they discontinued the black Epsom. This is a great case and their cushions are so easy and quick to use.

My wife and I travel a lot. One thing I learned through the years is to travel as light as possible, and that applies to watches, too. I only bring one watch with me. So I never have to worry about cases, etc.

I am right with you. I may bring a second cheap watch on some trips if I expect to be doing any actual work in our factories, and it's likely loose inside a spare pair of shoes in the carry-on or in my computer bag. But more and more, it's one watch and the minimum I can get by with for clothing, shoes, etc.

And as often as not, that one watch is a Sinn or Omega vs. a Rolex.

In a few weeks, I'll be on a two week long 3/4 business, 1/4 pleasure trip through 4 EU countries and involving 7 flights and 5 different hotels. I don't care to think about where the other watches are every step of the way. I'll be in everything from a suit to jeans, so it will likely be the 39mm Explorer only. My goal is always to not check a bag, and this trip will be a challenge.

100% Travel light, go far. If I'm going on vacation, then I generally don't need a watch because I'm not trying to be on a schedule, let alone two. If I'm going for work, bringing two watches seems frivolous. I don't want something I'm wearing to be the center of attention, let alone someone saying "didn't you wear a different watch yesterday?"

Just bring one & put your mind at ease.

I use the Rolex service pouches for storage and travel.

They are slim, offer decent protection, and take up minimal space.

Similar to @krash, I only travel with one watch, the one I’m wearing.

Normally only travel with one watch which was on my wrist when I was diving my dive watches stored in my dive boots with the rest of my dive equipment.

We also travel a lot and like to bring a few watches with us. I use a 3 watch roll and a few pouches. I wear a Casio when I don’t feel the environment is appropriate/safe for a nice watch.
I’m more concerned about personal safety than theft from a hotel as everything is insured.
We put the watches we leave behind in a safety deposit box and at home store them in a watch box.
Everyone has a different comfort level on this topic, but I prefer to wear my watches as much as possible while being aware of the situation…

If I'm traveling I will have one watch which I wear 24/7. If I know it will need to come off for security checks it goes in one of those doughnut shaped zip cases which is physically clipped in a compartment of my flight bag. I put it back on before leaving security.

Exactly but today Rolex watches in general get such a pampered life they must have special cases.

I mostly just wear a single watch that never leaves my wrist. I do have a small leather case with a zipper that holds two additional watches, and I also have more than one green leather Rolex watch pouch and a nice one DavidSW sent me for Christmas a few years ago that I don't think I've used.

I'll use this Rolex travel pouch or just roll up a watch in a pair of socks.

I have never had to take a watch off going through security at the airport.

I travel with 2 watches-one on wrist and one in a travel single doughnut case.

The watch case resides in my personal carry on which remains by my side or within grasp the entire trip.

I have been through the metal detectors thousands of times and the watch has never set it off.

I was asked once before I proceeded through the metal detector in Dehli to put the watch through the x-ray and I declined. I did not remove it from my wrist.
Just acquiesce to the pat-down.

In my opinion, airports are the safest environment (excluding pickpockets), but I don’t think you are going to run into somebody trying to grab a watch off your wrist. I am much more guarded as I walk out of the terminal.

This is me as well. 3 weeks in Europe last summer. Omega Speedmaster on leather strap with deployment clasp in Watchpod/doughnut case - for nicer dinners/evenings. Omega SMP polar diver with rubber strap on wrist - day watch/exploring/hiking. Didn't take Rolex, not worth the risk and stress worrying about it getting stolen or me assaulted.
