Watch etiquette question...

If you find a pre-owned Rolex on a site (that I have seen recommended here) but you do not like the face...is it in bad form to ask the seller if they can switch it for you before the purchase?

There is no harm in asking... as long you can assure them that you will buy it or at least pay in advance for the change. It will all depend on the seller... most of them are good guys and want to make a sale.

Yes, if you are dealing with a dealer and probably no if you are dealing with a private seller.

Or, simply buy the watch and have a accredited watch maker substitue the dial.

I agree with Gus. Should not be a problem if he's a dealer.

Your the one with the money. Ask whatever you want.

I sure wouldn't do it..

You just don't know how, or who will go about making this requested change..

Very few sellers have the skill and talent to be able to change out a dial properly...
