Trade Rose Gold Olive DD 228235 for AP RO Black 15510ST

I'd be curious to know what the USA RRP is for these two and also thoughts on corresponding market value.

I am pondering trading my Nov '23 DD for a similar "new" AP RO.

We don't have a local NZ AP dealer so I'm transacting this via a well known/respected USA based grey.

I like both equally. Well AP a tad more.

I would not trade that DD. I think you will regret it.

Interesting topic!

I have the RG white DD40 and a AP 15500…not exactly the same situation but close. I’m not sure which direction I’d lean…I think I’d regret not having either. Good luck on this one

They are very different animals. I love AP but also enjoy the DD.

This'd be easier if I could walk into an AD. I did try an AP a few months ago when i poped over to Ausralia. Id like to see them side by side.

Is your DD a daily wearer or more of an occasional wearer, for you?

If it’s an occasional “statement”, or “special occasion” option, I think a RO (SS or PM) has a comparable wrist presence to a DD.

If it’s fitting more of a daily (or frequent) driver role, a DD is hard to beat in terms of wrist presence AND durability.

Love my RO’s, but they’re definitely watches I have to be extra careful of on the wrist, based off the case and bracelet geometry alone. Lots of flat, brushed surfaces that love to attract love marks.

For me personally, I can wear my DD’s with zero worries, and often wear my YG in the daily driver rotation; can’t say the same for my RO’s.

That’s my take on it - but you know they say about opinions.

I rotate my rootbeer and blusey and Slate YM. The DD has been an occassional thing. I think I'd wear the AP quite frequntly.

As for the USA Rrp whats the price differential.

USA retail:

Base configured RG DD40 is $41,500USD

Base configured 15510ST is $27,800USD

For a price differential of: $13,700USD

I agree with this perspective and in addition to the RO not being as robust of a daily wearer, the AP service costs will be higher as well…if that matters to you.

They’re both beautiful watches so the rest comes down to the deal you’re getting and your personal preference. I’d be more inclined to add the RO as opposed to selling/trading the DD for it.

Good luck!

I have the AP and several golden Rolexes. I it was my only golden watch I might not have done it, otherwise for sure I would. APRO is one of the best watches in existence.

Not a fan of the RO case shape, so a hard No, for me. DD is a much more attractive watch, IMO.

Keep your D-D and save more money for RG AP 15510OR, they belong together in the collection. You don’t want to step down from PM Rolex to AP SS.

I would say its too much to give up for a SS AP so I would trade for a PM AP, or if you can add the SS in time that would be great.

For the life of me I don't see allure for the AP. To me, it's just plain ugly, boxy with no wow factor. The DD on the other hand is none of that. But that's just my opinion, and you need to decide for yourself.

I wouldn’t do the switch, as Benzsiam mentioned above I would save and have both in the collection.

Both are iconic pieces. I would not give up the DD but would strive to have both.

Find a way to have both IMO. Olive DD40 RG is one of my all-time favorites in the lineup.

I like the Royal oak “more” but still wouldn’t want to give up the DD. also, they are too totally different watches
