Hold on a minute, I have to wake up after being put to sleep by today’s releases.

Pepsi will be discontinued, Rolex forgot to discontinue Pepsi because of all those bezel production issues. They introduced the Grey/Black so they have no choice but to retire Pepsi.

I would bet heavily, for the first time, that a Coke will be put out, come what may with the bezel issues, next year. Rolex are taking a beating over this year's dire release, something they are not used to after so much sycophancy, their Ivory Tower has been breached and they need a sure fire winner next year and the Coke will be it I reckon.

just noticed w&w 2025 has a date, 4/1-4/7/2025.
is it just me, or is watch fatigue kicking in; excitement seems to have slowed. if anything, hoping 120 years is celebrated with a bang. |

70 year isn't such a significant milestone, usually they go by 5, 10, 25, 50, 75 etc. The GMT line feels complete now, with the exception of Coke. Sub, Daytona and the other tool watches too. They now seem to mostly release special dials and precious metal variants to cater to the higher end buyers.
New Yacht Master seems like a good candidate. They discontinued this year, have time to build up new production line with refreshed movement until next year and relaunch. Milgaus is another relaunch opportunity coming years that could bring something exciting as this model can vary a lot in form, function (bezel or no) and colours. |

I'm going to go out of a limb and predict that next year Rolex will make some incredibly minor and almost inconsequential changes to some existing models.
They may also discontinue something and/or reintroduce something they previously discontinued (also with very minor and almost invisible changes to the previously discontinued piece). There's also a "once in a couple of decades" chance that they may release something totally new. They will also produce something completely left-field that no-one wanted or asked for, that will generate very strong opinions at both ends of the spectrum - e.g. the so called "Celebration" dial, the DSC, the gold DS, etc. Also there will be lots of assumptions that THIS year will definitely, DEFINITELY be the year of the Coke.... which may or may not happen (probably the latter).

So done with W+W predictions. All it does is over hype the whole deal. I’m going to focus on enjoying the too many watches I already own.

2024 was a "meh" year for those interested in evolutions/introductions/steel watches. It was a much more interesting year in the PM department, with some pretty good dial introductions (deconstructed Romans on the DD36, SkyD dials, etc.).
And I think that's the trend - Rolex moves to heavier % PM pieces as Tudor moves up market and verges on what was steel Rolex territory. So, with that... Some wild-ass guesses: -YM40 dies, 42 becomes "the" standard, and potentially 37 replaced by 38 (w/32xx) -OP34 bites the dust -Return of the ToG, but Thunderbird style, with gold bezel and embossed matte ceramic insert (like the YM) -DD40 gets Jubilee option; DD36 sees return of Oyster option (just YG/RG models) -Explorer 36 exits (as I now believe this piece was largely intended for the floundering Asian market) -AK gets second size - 37 or 38mm - and a second dial option (white Roman?) for history's sake -More gilt dial options on steel watches, similar to the OP silver dial As for Tudor... Increasing presence of watches that have four-digit aesthetics and a five-digit feel (best way I can describe BB54, BB58 GMT), such as: -Complete redo of the Royal, in 31, 36, 39, 41 but with the aesthetic of the OysterQuartz -All BB58 models get the Rolex-style crown and T-fit; same for all 41mm BB models, such as GMT -58 GMT in TT, w/Jubilee style bracelet -White dial for BB 31/36/39/41 -Cream dial for BB Pro -Quick release strap system, exclusive to Pelagos |
