OK, this is the problem - my spouse has the eye for the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce which I was thinking of getting for her but after doing some research, i realised that firstly, it runs on Quartz movement and secondly, it comes with a rubber strap, and of course, it cost a hefty US$13K at least. Is it worth the money at all?? From a watch lover point of view, it doesn't really make alot of sense to pay so much for a quartz watch with rubber strap. I know Patek typically hold value really well but does it apply to the ladies range as well? I'm afraid it's like the Rolex Cellini range where it's nice and expensive but does not hold value well. And quartz...

so far, my experience with Quartz watches has been rather dismal. The battery inevitably leaks after a while and a overhaul, which i imagine would cost the price of a rolex, would be required. Then again, I do not have any experiences with Patek ladies watch and hence appreciate any advice.

I would try to buy used IF she will accept that
BUT
I think the real ?'s are

1) Can you afford it

2) Is she worth it....

Sometimes it is worth anything to satisfy a woman and it will also help you justify your next watch purchase :)

Actually, it's yes on both counts and I do not mind buying new BUT she just like the looks on her hand and probably the brand name. I much rather she get a Frank, Rolex or AP, something automatic that will last much longer.

on the positive side, once you buy her that Patek, it gives you the moral opportunity to get something of equal value for yourself

Ha ha...well the problem is that I have been spending quite a bit for myself and hence, it's payback time for her! So can anyone advise if Patek ladies are worth buying?

No ladies watch is worth its cost, they all have horrid resale but if she loves it what can you do but get it for her.
