Today is my first day of retirement! 44 years old!

Today is my first day being officially retired. After 22 years of being a cop in my big city, I’m done! I made it!

My local AD was great to work with when I told them I wanted something to celebrate it with and came through with this sub just a month ago. Perfect!

Not sure what I will do from here as being 44 leaves a lot of options on the table. For now, I think I’ll just relax and enjoy the feeling of no responsibility!

Huge Congratulations and Thank You for your service.

I have two retired LEO’s for neighbors. Both of them took a security job at the local marijana dispensary. I find it ironic, but hey, it works for them.

Enjoy your retirement. I’m starting my 20th year and it been nothing but fun, fun, fun.

Thank you for your service to your community. Many do not understand the sacrifices that 99.99 of police officers make on behalf of the communities they serve. Oh, and nice watch btw.

You'll be back doing something. I retired from a 26 year military career and now will retire for good at age 65 next May from my present job. My Dad was a 30 year LE officer and many others in my family work in LE.
I couldn't afford law school (wanted to be an FBI agent) so joined the military to become a pilot. My first flight of my life was flying from Fargo to San Antonio for Officer Training School.
Ironically purchased a Sub LV a month ago--great watch. Wear yours in great health!

I’m 39 and less than 10 years from retirement. I can almost taste it.

Thanks everyone! I’m excited to get to the end and actually make it through the career safely. My biggest fear was not getting killed, but more so getting in a controversial shooting and putting my family at risk. I retired from a department hat was well known probably worldwide for a really controversial shooting(Breonna Taylor), so that weighed heavily on my mental health. I was glad to get to the end.

I’ll still work, just now I get to choose what is more fun for a job. Maybe a golf course job or something like working with animals again. Something that makes me smile and somewhere where I don’t have to deal with the worst people in society.

Man, firstly huge congratulations.

What you said makes perfect sense. I think I that’s why there is becoming a shortage of applications in some areas. It’s just too much risk on multiple levels.

Well, you made it. Enjoy every day of it.

I’m 42 and I think about retirement all the time haha. One day I’ll make a post like this. (Hopefully soon)
