Explorer II...Buy Now or Wait?
Love the Exp II white dial but the watch could use a few changes (bigger with a thicker/bigger strap).
Would you buy one now or wait until some changes are made if any in the near future? This topic has been flogged to death but I want to pull the trigger but would hate to see a revised version in 2011 or so. |

Totally agree....ok, so lets say you decide to wait 'till 2011.....the new revised version is released and you decide - nope, you don't like it.....so in the mean time the original version has seen some price hikes.....and you've gone almost 2 years without the watch you claim to love now.....where's the sense in that?

Buy the watch you want. If you want a current Exp II then get it: you can't speculate about something that hasn't been released yet. You might not even like the new one when (or, indeed, if) it's released. I suppose you can go about it in one of two ways: firstly, you could wait an indefinite amount of time for a new Exp II to be released, or, secondly, you could buy the watch you love now, and make a decision about the new version when the time comes. The Exp II is a really unique looking watch as it is, and it would be a shame to pass up the opportunity of owning it.
All the best Chris |

Buy it now, you may not like the new version if and when there ever is a new version.

Buy now! Life is short, and you clearly like the watch as it is. Once the new one comes up you can save back up for it and buy that also or if not sell and buy that new one. Go for it

I can tell you're worried about it. So just wait. Or look for a high quality used current one at a good price.

If you don't like it the way it is, then wait. I'm sure you'll be able to find a new old model or a good used one in the future.

Since you seem to have reservations, then maybe hedge yourself by buying used. That way, if Rolex do make any changes to the watch in the future and if you find yourself wanting the updated version, you can flip the one you bought for minimal loss.

There are some attractive prices on NIB and LNIB examples out there. It would be the last of the classic case style and you have the oppertunity to "test drive" the current version. It would be a while before any new version makes it to the street anyway and gives you the chance to clear your feelings on which way to go. |
