Watch box - hexagonal velvet/leather box vs Pelican style foam case

I'm looking to pick up a new watch box - with two options available:

1. Hexagonal style slot box with velvet interior and leather outer
2. Hard plastic Pelican case with foam inserts

Has anyone got a view / feedback on which has worked well for them? The marketing for either is pretty heavy duty, but don't know how hardy the leather box is, nor whether the foam inserts fail or are a pain in typical use. ANy advice appreciated...
