Thanks, Colin......I thought that was getting a bit too personal, especially on an international forum.
Yes, I have worked hard all my life - there is no substitute for good, hard, honest work - a lot of blood, sweat and tears!! I was in the Middle East for almost 7 long years and was able to save a lot there. I've always held good paying jobs and I have been careful with my money - no smoking, no gambling, no womanising and just the occasional beer!! ![]() ![]() I've always tried and lived on the simple, straight-forward policy: If you can't afford it, don't buy it!! And if you can, then go for it!! Can't get any simpler than that, can it? ![]() ![]() Cheers - JJ ![]()

I have more money than anybody on this forum. I am getting a 100 Trillion Dollar Zimbabwe dollar bill. It is the largest bill in circulation. So I am sure Rolex will let me be a dealer.

The ability to hold 125k in new Rolexes in the shop at any given time. A nice 100 - 200k jewelry setup also would work well.

Find a good location and during this contact some rolex reps and give them a business plan. If everything looks good, you should be good.
You should prolly find a partner, which will help with the debt of starting. |

Hey... All the above is a crap!
To be a Rolex dealer you have to be Millionaire for sure. Also, Rolex does not like to give dealership to a company or corporate driven firm. All the Rolex dealers in the world are hand picked by Rolex after very long reseach and verification. Usually, given to known Family own business. For eg. Carl F. Bucherer the Largest Rolex dealer out of Switzerland is a family own business of dealership. Seddiqi and Sons from Dubai so on & so forth... Trust me the names I mentioned above they dont even think of money. Infact, the dealer in Dubai named a 60 storey building after Rolex in a upmarket prime area. IMAGINE... the whole property named Rolex Towers. And Carl F. Bucherer makes its own timepieces which are expensive then Rolex too... Also, one more story which does rounds is from Basel watch Fair people who are already in watch business for years drop their business card along with blank cheque in Rolex kiosk. Still, the Rolex Rep. have no time to meet them for years. For Rolex money is not important what they value the most is credentials... Last edited by Tick Tok Zak; 7 October 2009 at 02:14 PM.. Why is then that people in the "gray" market can sell watches much less than the brick and mortar authorized dealer stores (i.e. Mayors). I have a buddy who has purchased $ Rolex and a Panerai from a dude that gets his watches from a AD. He sells them because the AD can't discount and they split the profit. AND I MEAN PROFIT. This guys sells 8-15 watches a month with a $1000-$2000 profit on cheaper watches and $6000-$8000 on gold and special editions.
This guys works out of his house and obviously won't say who the contact is. I want to get into selling part time because i have a passion for watches and who wouldn't want to make some scratch doing what they love. By the way, I'm in construction here in Miami. And it's gotten slow so now I have the time. I fish Monday Thursday and Saturday...why not sell a few watches in between. |

Max, I thought the same thing about the warranty. But he sells you watches at ridiculously good values and the warranty is good with Rolex! He accepts credit cards and besides that and ebay, there is no overhead.
But if you make $2000 per watch who cares paying $100 to visa and $100 to ebay. I'll be fishing while people order watches!!! |

Is it true that AD get watches at 55% the list price? That leaves Gray market guys tons and tons of profit!!!!

Good thought pep about buying and seling in free time. How about the idea, like many, many on ebay and here do. Buy quality used rolexes and sell them for $500, 1k over your cost? Assuming you have the time and funds to find good deals here and there. My biggest worry would be getting a fake watch or other scam where watch never came and there would go all your profit from past sales.
Tick is full of it if he thinks Rolex doesn't care about money. That's why the prices go up every year. |

Also, very few people know this but its a fact that Rolex is a non profitable organisation. Its a trust. Hence, I said they dnt care about money. All they focus is to be on the top consistently as a luxury timepiece in a competitive market. |

In today's economy, I think the good ole brick and mortar stores have way too much competition. Discount wholesalers, no tax out of state shipping, low overhead costs. The cost to rent the store, have employees, utilities, etc. Compared with the online business of inventory on demand after a purchase is made.
