A round glass above 12 broke on the new Submariner

Dear friends! My beloved Submariner are not even 3 months old, I wear it without taking them off, I am happy every day, but today I noticed out of nowhere a broken glass above the number 12. It seems like the watch hasn't fallen, and nothing catches it. Strange. Can you please tell me if this can be repaired? Of course, I'll probably wear it like this, it's not noticeable from afar. But in a year or two I think I'll tackle the repair issue. Thanks in advance for your consolation and help.

Wait, bezel pips can’t be replaced on ceramic bezels?

I heard that with ceramic bezels, the PIP is a permanent setting and cannot be removed.

Sounds like just another reason to appreciate five digit references.

Lumi dots can be replaced, and this particular one retails for $25.20 USD plus labor. However, whatever caused the sapphire dot to crack also may have created a fracture in the insert; that area is thin and already has a hole in it to accept the lumi dot setting. If a new insert is required, the MSRP for this insert is $300 USD plus labor to install.

I don’t have personal experience with this, but I did watch an Instagram reel from “Watch king nyc” that covered this exact topic. They refused to buy a watch off somebody because it had a broken pearl and would’ve required a $2k bezel swap.

Not anymore.

I just sent a Sub to Dallas RSC for service and quoted cost to change pip was $25. I'm sure it would be slightly more if without service. I accepted the quote last week.

That's really too bad, OP. In the old days Rolex would replace pearls - It was common for them to fall out in the 4 digit era. They don't do this anymore, at least as far as I am aware. As others have mentioned, you're looking at a complete replacement. Cerachrom inserts are expensive, unfortunately :(

It's a common occurrence and Rolex service centers do indeed replace damaged bezel pearls/pips. This may be under warranty if it wasn't caused by negligence. If not found to be a warranty issue, the repair cost won't be much. Any good watchsmith can also replace a damaged pearl/pip. It's a very easy fix.

Why replace the entire bezel when you can just have the bezel insert replaced? Going this route should cost ~$500.00 USD from RSC.

And I agree with your earlier point that the insert itself may have suffered a fracture from the force that shattered that pearl/pip.

A clue exists in the damage to the bracelet just above the 12 o'clock side of the bezel. It's been banged fairly good on more than one occasion methinks.

Weirdly, my submariner (no-date) was at service due to running -8 seconds slow and RSC called to let me know that the bezel and pip both were cracked and would need replacement. Being in warranty, I was quoted $185 for repair and my AD has already received the watch. I haven’t picked it up yet as I’m out of town, can confirm further once I’m back and picked up the watch.

$2000 for bezel replacement sounds ridiculous

Not a chance this costs $2K — I had my 116610LV insert replaced by the RSC in Dallas for like $600 all in and done sometime back.

Interesting thread in my opinion a Rolex is a Rolex is a Rolex and will always have genuine authorized Rolex parts. Now there seems to be a discussion as to whether or not the replacement parole or pip is actually a genuine authorized Rolex part if it can be replaced independent of the insert. I just spoke with an authorized dealer and they told me they didn't believe it could be replaced it had to be the entire ceramic bezel insert the most important thing is that you stay with Rolex authorized service parts through a Rolex authorized service center that is if you care to keep your Rolex genuine. I've seen some aftermarket stuff done to Rolexes that were just made me shake my head and wonder what in the world but I guess everybody to his own. For instance I don't have a problem putting a black rubber b strap on a bluesy but that's me too I mean I'm doing what I do.

Are the lume pips replaceable? Yes, they are. A watchmaker from a Rolex AD even gave you the cost of the part in the US. That being said based on the location you have in your profile (since you used "-" in the name and your English I assume it's Saint Petersburg, Russia, not the one in FL), it really doesn't really matter whether it can be repaired. What really matters is with the sanctions can the watchmakers around you get their hands on the part and the tool required. And if I had to make a guess, the answer is no. Watch services in Russia have been complaining about the inability to source parts.

Easy repair by Rolex but won’t be under warranty as in the second pic (at 12.02 on the bezel) you can clearly see an impact mark on the teeth of the bezel, in line with the crack.

The pip can absolutely be replaced without a new bezel. I took my 114060 to the Rolex AD 5 weeks ago for its 8 year service. It was quoted to me as $30 cost. Keep in mind they were already servicing it so I believe the $30 just covered the cost of the new pip.
