Trading new ref Black Daytona for 126509 (Le Mans light)
I’ve recently been wearing my John Mayer a lot more as a daily watch and going back to stainless steel something just feels ‘off’
I have the new ref black stainless steel version and really enjoy it but it just feels a bit ‘cheap’ which I know sounds crazy given the prices! I’ve always really appreciated the 126509- stealth wealth with the heft and beautiful contrasting full sub dials. The lack of the a ceramic bezel (which I guess would make it a Le Mans) has never bothered me. Soooo I think I’ll be part exchanging and adding another PM Daytona. What do you guys think? Anyone been in a similar situation? |

I'm still waiting for my first DT so I can't offer that perspective. That is a beautiful combination. It offers a good contrast to the JM when you're wanting a little variety.

I think you should get the WG Le Mans if you have the means, it’s a stunner!

The 126509 had a big jump in MRSP- now at £44k!
It makes sense in a trade A stainless steel Daytona at MRSP won’t happen for me, I’d rather go PM 126509 |

I think you should, its a better watch..
WG weight feels better on the wrist. And the fully contrasted sub-dials really highlight the chronograph aspect of the watch. But on a side note, I think not every watch needs to be called a variation of Le Mans.... Same applies to the 126519 or the 126509 - it's not a "Baby LM" or a "LM lite".... Both are outstanding watches on its own and do not need to borrow the limelight of the Le Mans (126529) to be good. It is not as rare or exclusive as the LM, but it can stand on its own as a great watch! |

Make sure you see the black 126509 in person. I have and wasn’t impressed with the dial.
Sure, overall it’s a beautiful WG Daytona with heft, but there was something about the sub-dials I didn’t love. The centers are slightly raised and brushed/textured, which often doesn’t come across in photos. Personal preference. Definitely prefer the steel/silver dial version. |

I love it…turned one down recently bec I was waiting for a DD 40 in green…whoops. They are easily had in the grey for the old retail price. I agree…feels far better than steel even though it lacks the ceramic bezel. I would love to trade my 116520 black for one but it was an engagement gift so I have to keep it.

It’s something I’ve thought of doing , I like my 126500 black dial , had the blue dial white gold Daytona until last year but the WG Black dial is a great looking watch. One a chrono 24 in the UK , 2023 , £36k

Trading new ref Black Daytona for 126509 (Le Mans light)
Can’t tell you how much I love mine…. And agree re steel vs gold. I have a few Daytonas, and I really love them (a couple in gold). This piece is a keeper.

I share your feeling of "stepping down" when wearing a PM watch for a while and then donning a SS piece. The heft of the PM feels so nice on the wrist. The feeling does subside though, and I can still enjoy my SS pieces.
If you don't mind losing the ceramic bezel, I'd make the trade for the WG and not look back. |

I like the YG and green better. I’d rather have the SS Daytona with the ceramic bezel. The WG looks like an older non-ceramic SS version to me.

Wouldn’t think twice about trading ss to wg. Def do it. But I would look at some other versions like the discontinued blue dial and other dials.. but I like the one you are talking about

I don't know. I don't like wearing PM pieces the weight bothers me. I want my watch to feel as light as possible so I can forget it . And I would never sacrifice the look of ceramic bezel for non ceramic PM. To me it's a "downgrade". This is just my personal opinion, I know this is a hot take.

Is the OF version not an option? I have a full PM and strongly prefer the OF with glidelock

If only they made “normal” full PM pieces with ceramic. Oyster flex are better looking than the steel but I can’t bring myself to love a rubber bracelet at that price - no matter how well engineered it is.

I thought the same thing. But you just have to wear It to understand it. The glidelock is a game changer for the OF to be honest. Was hard to wrap my head around spending around $34k with tax on a gold watch on a “rubber” bracelet. But when compared to the 2 tone it made a little more sense. I think it looks the best of all Daytonas with the full sub dials and ceramic bezel. I don’t think the full bracelet sans the glidelock is worth an additional $10k. You could basically get a sub or gmt and a OF Daytona. For the price of a full gold one. With all that being said the new price increase does make it a tougher pill to swallow. Yes fair enough. It’s sooo expensive now. Actually made the steel one seem silly in some ways but big delta in 2025. Dials look lovely with ceramic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
