Which would you choose? 16013 VS 16233

For similar price, which would you choose? 16013 with acrylic crystal or 16233 with sapphire.

I have very little interest in sapphire crystal Rolex models, so I'd never even consider a 16233. But to be honest, I've sold every 5-digit DJ that has ever passed through my hands. The only DJs I've held onto are 4-digit. They just look so much better.

Is this a poll or are you trying to decide between the two?

Why ask us? Do you like acrylic or sapphire?

Depends on the dial for me, personally. I'd pick an acrylic crystal 16013 with a linen dial every day of the week over any 16233.

Acrylic is warm and fits the vintage vibe if you’re going for that.

As noted above, the biggest difference is the crystal. Acrylic vs. Sapphire. There's good argument for both but most people prefer sapphire. But if you want the old school charm of a vintage watch then acrylic is the way to go.

The movement in the 16233 (the 3135) is technically better than the 3035 movement in the 16013. That said, the 3035 is no slouch. But keep in mind the 3035 will incur an upcharge of about $400 for a service by Rolex vs. a service of the 3135. If that matters to you.

Thanks for the info about the service price difference. That I didn’t know. I’m leaning towards the 16233.

Never had an easier question to answer - low c.o.g, light, warm, light bending Plexi 'is' the essence of vintage !

Looks well cared for at first glance. The bezel looks nice and sharp and even has a little bit of tarnish, which is promising.

That’s a 16013. Claims to be unpolished but can’t be sure. I haven’t seen that dark of dial on those before. Says “polar” dial

100 % Just some oxidation of the copper in the gold alloy. Easily remedied with a light hand-buffing. Desirable, in fact, to many collectors

Really considering that one. Comes with box/papers and is from a reputable seller. Pretty high price but everything is right now

That's a corker.... rare with the indented chapter ring dial. Looks Cappuccino, with cream writing in one photo. Wise buy, if not too expensive.

Dude, it’s your money, and your wrist. Which do you prefer? What difference does it make what complete strangers prefer?

I’ve never seen a 16233 in person. Live in rural area and nearest dealer is 6hrs away. The opinion of others is all I had to go off. I bought a 16013 again though. Thanks

The OP's thread appears (to me) to be more about gathering info on the pros and cons of each model in order to make an educated decision vs. what does a stranger prefer.
