Submariner LV or ND

I’ve been debating on my next watch and I’ve narrowed it down to these two.

I initially had a submariner date and when I got the call for the Batman I jumped on it and sold the sub.

Compared to the Batman, the submariner seemed boring, however, now a year later I’m yearning for brushed bracelets and less busy bezels.

I love the BLNR, but I’m looking for a change up that is simpler. The obvious choice based on what I’ve written may seem like the NB,however, the LV really impressed me in person.

It partially means the criteria, less busy dial brushed bracelet but an amazing green that changes based on lighting - which is my favorite thing about the BLNR.

On one hand the LV may compete with the BLNR for 50/50 wrist time on the other hand it may not meet its primary responsibility give me something chill that goes with everything.

With a BLNR, I would go 124060 for sure. Classic black Sub to pair with the colorful bezel of the GMT.

Or I would flip the BLNR for the 126610LV.

BLNR is by favorite watch in a head to head it crushes the LV for me.

But the question comes down to if I love the blue bezel would I love the green just as much? My favorite color is green but if there was a SS sub in blue bezel I would take it 100% over green.

Ok, well, I don’t see why you would even consider adding the LV then. Stick with the BLNR and look elsewhere.

Ask yourself, why are you considering buying an LV in a situation where your current watch 'crushes the LV'? Makes no sense at all.

Sounds like you are buying watches for the sake of it.

Any thoughts of going back to the Sub date? I am thinking that would check all of the boxes for you on being chill and going with everything? Do you have any regrets on selling your old one? If so, there's nothing wrong with going back to the same watch again.

I do have some regrets I rushed to sell I wasn’t comfortable having that much money in watches at the time.

Since then I’m much more comfortable with the idea of two watches.

The date would work as well but the no date adds extra differentiation between the two watches.

Sometimes the cyclops annoys me and I loved the symmetry of my Tudor BB58.

Sounds like you are already sold on the LV. I would say get the LV or else you’ll just keep thinking of it.

I have the Batman, ND, and LV. I’m also around people who wear these regularly.

From arm’s length the three are very similar. Even with the polished links. The ceramic bezel deep bezel teeth and modern Rolex finishing make them all appear larger than 40mm and catch lots of light. Sometimes if I don’t look a little deeper, I mistake someone’s Batman for sub. Can’t always catch the blue at all angles. The modern subs and GMTs are very noticeable, brushed or PCL. They are men’s jewelry with a tool watch history. Credit to Rolex for at least making them look and feel more expensive with the finishing. The cyclops also adds another reflective surface but it’s not that much diff than no date.

To truly go more subtle, you gotta get an OP or 1908.

I wouldn’t say subtlety is my end game from a lookers perspective I’m wanting something similar to switch up the GMT.

Even with the LV the watch is toned down with a less busy bezel and one color for the entire thing.

The ND brings that concept further to remove the cyclop and all black goes with everything.

I think that for that classic Sub aesthetic, bereft of bling, solidly built and presented, no nonsense but classy, you can't beat a Black Bay. Maybe running one of these alongside your BLNR will give you a good balance and will retain the watch you already love. Harrods are still selling their green one, it's a very tasty watch.

This is a tough one simply because you have a Rolex with outstanding color in the BLNR. I almost would say go all black with the Sub as it gives that timeless and classic Sub of generations. It will also blend when your BLNR might have too much “bling” in certain situations.
Now the LV is outstanding and I have owned one. It isn’t too much green either. I would say it depends on how much you like the color green as a daily. I don’t think you could go wrong with either.

Define “isn’t too green” is it similar to the BLNR in dark situations and the blue goes to almost black?

I’ll add one more comment - when I see the green sub I had that wow gasp feeling last week.

Then you will be underwhelmed with the much more common all black Sub. I think it’s that simple.

Short honeymoon period and then stays in the box is the worst scenario.

Love the BLNR and the LV. I have an LV, and am waiting on either a BLNR or GRNR two tone. Can’t go wrong either way.

If you have seen the LV in person and like the green then maybe. For me, the current green bezel is not great. I think we all perceive colors differently and the person next to me might say it’s the nicest green ever.

Had both - getting the LV again. Your BLNR is conservative enough. Don’t over think it you need more pop to the collection. I found my BLNR and no date too similar, and I had the jubilee. The new green is superior, it is a true green vs the faded older green which I had. Saw it in person and love it.

The green is amazing no doubt, and I definitely think I’m starting to over think this.

I wish I had some notes on how I felt when I had the all black sub.

I’m in NYC for work, I’m going to try and pop into a AD and do a side by side again.
