Air King wait list

Just wondering if anyone has seen the AirKing at their AD. I have been on the wait list for going on a year for this watch. This would be my third Rolex purchased from this AD in the past 7 years. I wasn’t expecting this to be such a difficult watch to acquire.

I am assuming that you have been checking in with your AD every so often? Making a connection again and reminding them that you're still interested? Some people think that they can go into a store once, express interest, get on the "list" and never go in again. They are just waiting, expecting a call at some point. I suspect this is not you though since you have purchased from this AD before. I just wanted to throw that out there though just in case.

As for the AK, I don't know the market on this ref, but I am a bit surprised that it's a bit tough to get. I do see them on the grey for not much over MSRP and a couple of times for under. The ones at under sell pretty quickly though. This is for the newer 126 ref. If you can live with the older 116 AK, I see those going for well under MSRP and are essentially a bargain!

I, too, think this would be a relatively easy one to get from your AD. Here’s hoping you are doing your part, as mentioned above, and will get the call soon.

That's basically how I got my Rolex!

Chase, Nashville Watch, has a 2025 one in stock for $8450. Depending on how much tax you have to pay in Indiana, probably just a couple of hundred dollars more to get it now.
Also, Chase is a trusted seller here on the forum.

I think most trusted sellers have AK’s available in like new condition.

Step 1…. Visit your AD one more time and tell him you would like to know how long because you are just going to be forced to buy secondary.

Step 2. If he doesn’t give you the answer you are hoping for, call Chase or Patrick at OC. Offer Chase $8250 for a guaranteed same day wire and see what he says. “I will wire you today” gets their attention. See what he says. Try again with a few other trusted sellers.

Step 3. Enjoy your awesome watch.

AD’s understand you have to explore other avenues when they can’t supply a watch. Just make sure they know that they are your first choice and will be again. I’m VERY surprised someone with purchase history hasn’t been allocated an Air King in a years time.

Keep us updated OP!

Air-King 126900, like 226570 Explorer II, are not delivered in large quantities ie. like Submariner-date.

Therefore, the wait for something like this is longer than some might imagine.

The market price on secondary for Air-king is roughly equal to retail+tax
because: supply and demand

Love the reference by the way

My understanding is that they're surprisingly "difficult" to come by if they're not "in-stock". That said, you may get lucky and just find an AD with one in the safe... but as I understand it, they are produced in far fewer quantities than any of the other sports models. A type of "milgauss" situation, one might say chuckle:

$.02.

I was offered several last year. There are no shortages of Air Kings in the market

If you’ve been waiting a year for an Air King, chances are it’s not coming. Time to find a new AD or go the grey market route.

I've also heard from a reliable source that the AK should be easily obtainable with a short wait. There shouldn't be issues, unless you're unlikable to the AD for any reason.

My sister went on the local ADs wait list for an Air King for her husband's birthday and got the call at just about three months afterwards. She actually left the ADs miffed when she felt that they were too dismissive about her chances of getting one, yet had a very short wait until she got the call.

I asked my AD for one last July and had it in November. I don’t think they are hard to come by. That said - buy from Chase. I’ve purchased multiple times from him and it’s always been 100% perfect. Given the little markup over new, just get it from Chase and voila, no more wait!

I’m sure most ADs would welcome an Air-King enquiry

Considering that an Air King is one of the watches that ADs want to force on you to develop a purchase history with them, I am very surprised that you are having difficulty in sourcing one from the AD. What is your relationship like with the AD? Are you maintaining a relationship by visiting the boutique or phoning them every now and again to remind them of your interest?

If you're doing all of that and they still just are not sourcing you one, then I agree 100% with the others that it is time to find another AD entirely or go to the grey market. That's ridiculous that you can't find a Ref. 126900 easily. Every time I walk into a Rolex boutique, I'm likely to find one staring at me next to the ladies Datejusts.

I don't think Air-King would take take so much time to obtain, It depends on your AD.

I expressed interest in a new Air King at my AD in mid-June last year and was wearing it by late October. I was in the store monthly reminding them and we purchased an Omega Sea Master from them during that stretch.

I don't get all the dismissive comments about the watch. To me, it is the rare Rolex that doesn't look like a 50-year-old design. Cheers!

Should not be so hard to get? A few weeks to a few months, I was offered one last year and passed because I was waiting on Explorer I. AK is available in most markets.

Cheers,

I’m surprised that it is taking this long, the AirKing should be easier to get compared to the other Rolex watches.

I picked one up on the 15th January on the day as a walk in from Goldsmiths in Canterbury.
They initially told me 4 months but then when I said I was buying a pre owned model from a dealer today that quickly changed to being next on the list.
I then said that's no good to me as I'll just buy the 2024 model this afternoon so then miraculously they had one that the allocated buyer just refused a few minutes before!
If you have the money on offer to buy on the spot then I think many of these watches are available, the Rolex ADs just like to give the false impression that waiting lists still exist in this current climate.

I feel the pain. Was on the list for about a year, then decided to go gray and got almost new 126900 for MSRP-10%.

AIR KING Wait list

Hi I got my Air King after waiting 3 months. Got listed at WOS in Las Vegas Wynn. Great service.
I met with the stor manager and he listed my interest noting that i purchased Omegas at their other subsidiary store so i think it helped getting the AIr King.

Thank you for all of the replies. I feel like I have a good relationship with my AD. I have purchased 2 Rolexes from them as well as several pieces of jewelry. I have been stopping by as well as calling them once a month. I guess if I don’t hear from them by spring I will start looking elsewhere.

Talk to your AD, as everyone said it’s not a “hard to get” watch but they are also not just lying around for the public to purchase. I bought one for my son in law last June 24’, I had spoken about a TT Daytona which I purchased and was offered the AK as well same day. It’s a nice watch it’s the only Rolex watch with “ROLEX” in green color on the dial. Good luck!
