Is it safe to say that the dial color is a dark matte gray vs black?

I would call it more of a Matte Black. Rolex calls it an "Intense Black Dial"

I liked it in pictures, but when had a chance to see in person there is something off with that watch. I think proportions on the dial are different to Subs and GMTs, which makes it odd to look at.

I think it’s the fact that there is more empty space on the dial due to its bigger dial/diameter. In a perfect world, I’d prefer a 40mm version but I would still gladly wear 42mm if offered to me.

My AD said they received 1 since release. Just don’t understand why these have unicorn status. Other brands produce Titanium watches (albeit grade 2 only) in decent quantities. Rolex at it again…🙄

You’re right, Rolex is at it again by doing better than all the other brands.
The titanium that Rolex is using is a certain variety of grade 5 titanium.

Why did they use this variety ? Because they can apply a whole complicated process to it in order to be sure that the polishing will be perfect. They even patented this process. And when you see that there is so little surface that is polished on this watch, you can imagine how much Rolex are looking for perfection.

I can guarantee you that no other brand does that. They use the first grade 5 titanium they have and polish it.

So yeah, it seems like ordinary titanium but it’s not. And I’m quite sure it explains why it’s hard to produce.

Are you aware that MANY brands are using titanium grade 5 with polished parts ?
TAG Heuer, Breitling, etc

Brands use grade 5 when they want to have a titanium watch with polished parts as titanium grade 2 is extremely hard to polish.

I’m quite sure that if you take a magnifying lens and compare the quality of the polished parts between GS and Rolex, Rolex will have the best finish as they have this special variety of grade 5 with their patented process.

Super watch, though very dark. The weight of the Ti YM is 3.7oz, a SS Sub is 5.7oz, and WG GMT is 8.1oz, as configured for my wrist.

Finally pulled the trigger and scooped one up recently. I may be biased… but it is incredible. Question for you dudes: can you put this on an oysterflex? I got mine sized at an AD today and he told me that Rolex made the lugs spaced 1mm different to keep people from purchasing an oysterflex on the grey market and installing them themselves. Doesn’t seem to be a ton of info out there about if it fits or not since the titanium ones are hard to come by

RLX Titanium = Grade 5 titanium = 6Al4V = 90% pure titanium with 6%Aluminium and 4% Vanadium.

This is a very high aerospace grade used for the fan blades in jet engines.

6AL4V is stronger than Grade 2 Titanium which is 3AL2.5V and pure titanium.

So RLX titanium is actually 6% Aluminium so maybe its got some recycled Coke and Pepsi cans in the case...

RLX Ti GMTs & Subs (Pepsis, Cokes, Sprites, Starbucks) where Rolex guarantees each case has its 6% Al casting component made exclusively from the cans of the brand in their name. Brilliant, Steve....

And while we are about those branding concepts, how about RLX Ti Daytona cases whose Al content comes exclusively from Rolex24 race-run wheels destroyed in track incidents.

Looks like ROLEX has run out of ideas. With the creation of this watch, they appear confused and now seem to be making clooge of a watch, which means, take some thing from this watch, something from that watch and throw it all together to make something that is neither A nor B.

What's next? A Daytona with a Helium Escape Valve? or a day/date with the Deepsea's crystal?

As I said, RLX Titanium is NOT the grade 5 titanium that all other brands are using. In their patent (EP 4 273 287 A1), they patented the use of these alloys: Ti-5553, Ti-4733, Ti-10-2-3, Beta-C, VT22, Ti-1-8-5, Ti-8823, Beta21S, Timetal21S, BetaIII

All of them are variation of grade 5 with various composition (Vanadium, Aluminium, Chromium, Molybdenum, etc). And by applying a certain process to it, they can improve the surface finish and hardness.
I think that's why it's more complex to produce.

(And unfortunately for the aluminium cans, it's an alloy from the 5XXX family that is used in these and it contains Magnesium, which will be hard to separate from the aluminium. Yes, I'm fun at parties )
