Hi

Hi everyone, my name is tristan and i am new here!
i live in Oregon, thank god, no sales tax! and it would be very helpful when
i purchase my first Rolex

but unfortunately, i don't have much knowlege about watches.. i know brands.... and automatic, quartz.. and stuffs..

what should my first rolex watch be?

my budget is 10000 dollars

i am thinking about Daytona or Sub with date.

And can you tell me little bit about both of them?
If I buy in January, what kind of serial number would there be?
i heard there are like alphabets at the beginning of serial numbers which tell you what year they were made. What are the recent ones?

and whats the difference between self-winding and manual winding?
what about sub? does it wind itself? or should i do something every morning?
what about daytona?

this is my first real watch that i think i deserve to get.

and! what are retail prices? daytona with steel and sub with date steel

Thank you! and i am happy to join here.

Hi Tristen....Welcome to TRF!!!
For 10G you can get a a very nice Rolex!!! However I suggest you go to a dealer and check them out in person to see what tickles your fancy the most..! Spending that kind of money warrants some hands on!!!!
Most recent serial prefix is M & V...... Not sure if it will change by January or not.....
Self winding is an automatic...Meaning it will wind with the motion of your wrist whilst wearing it...These models can also be maually wound by hand!!!! All current Rolex models are automatic.......!
As far as prices...Keep your eye on the classifieds section here to get an Idea on prices and see what might interest you for a model......Good luck on your search,
Rob

Welcome to The Forum..

Either watch would be a nice purchase and both are self-winding.

They are very different looks and functions, so you need to look them over and decide which functions you want in your watch....

The safest place for your watch is on your wrist.
