Go with the one on the right.

The Daytona is small and if the SD43 looks small you need the DSSD.

Very personal decision and pics often don't tell the story. I find the Daytona wears too small for me and I have close to an 8" wrist. However, I can take pics where I think it looks good and well-proportioned and maybe that's because it's just fine on my wrist. Trends are largely what's driving the bigger watch movement and being relatively new to watches and a bigger guy, prefer larger watches.

If your wrist is so big that an SD43 looks small then a Daytona will look ridiculous.

It's all in your head and the Daytona will look fine.
People were used to wear 34-36mm watches for decades

Mine is 7.5 and very flat which causes watches to wear even smaller. The Daytona is just fine on anyone unless one is caught up on the larger is better train. Only you will know if you are, but if you are you’ll never be happy. The Daytona is an amazingly slim and compact chronograph for its features and I appreciate that way more than the size. The size in fact imo is absolutely classic. Conversely the new DSSDs don’t wear all that large. So I think the argument gets pretty exaggerated on both sides.

I don’t know about that. One is a true sports watch, a diver. The other the Daytona is meant to fit differently as a sophisticated chronograph. I find it strange to only collect watches a certain size. I mean Pateks are all smaller, but that’s by design and takes nothing away from them. Michael Jordan wears a Platona and just fine on him.

I do believe that the Daytona size is what makes it special. Small watches are elegant, classic, timeless.

Just bought this 116505. Decided to buy it with the metal bezel BECAUSE it looks smaller than the ceramic version. Also bought a custom end link and a leather strap. Its the "make it look smaller" combo.

The result? My favorite watch, at the moment.

I've had them all & the Daytona is the perfect fit! Love the case & dimensions! No messing around with any of the Maxi nonsense! The star of the shoe has been left alone as it should be!

Daytona is a 40mm so for some it may seem small. But it has classic proportions, and can be worn under the cuff nicely. If the OP wants something more substantial, consider the current Skydweller 42mm or consider new Yachtmaster 42mm or the out of production DJII, 41mm.

Part of the Daytona's charm is its intricate design in a smaller case. It is listed at 40mm, but it does measure closer to 38.5-39mm. Ultimately, it's wearable on almost any wrist. Whether or not you will personally find enjoyment in its size is something else entirely. The Daytona does wear small on me (though I have found that 40-44mm is my sweet spot). The ceramic bezel gives the watch a larger appearance than the steel bezel variation. Ultimately, if you find the SD43 to be small, you may not be happy with the Daytona.

If I find it perfect for my 6.5” wrist, chances are you won’t like it. Try any of them on at an AD to get a feel first.

Daytona lovers will disagree BUT, I find it way too small and am second guessing my purchase, and I have a 6.5” wrist. I have been trying to convince my wife to wear it as I think it looks awesome on women.
Extremely comfortable watch but when all my watches range from 40-44mm and I put on the Daytona at 38.5 and such low profile, feels like I am wearing an 80’s Movado Museum.

I think you just got way to use to wearing the larger watches, which is a preference.

I've got the same wrist size as you but I prefer the Daytona so much more and I do not got beyond a 41mm watch (even my Royal Oak bugs me at times).

Based on your avatar picture, it looks great! I would think larger watches on you would look out of portion, but again its up to what someone likes.

How big is your wrist? Did you remove any links from the bracelet? Did you add?

My SD43 fits perfect with links as it came from the factory and I don’t think it looks small.

That Daytona fits you exactly how a watch should fit. The bracelet should flow out of the lugs as a graceful extension of them before curling around the wrist...not take a clumsy abrupt 90 degree turn down, holding on for its life like a cat falling out of a tree.

Oh yeah...IMHO.

Plenty of large men wear the 36mm DD or DJ without issues so a 40mm Daytona would be no issue either unless you let it be an issue.

Do you have a pic of sd43 on your wrist? it’s hard to imagine that it would look small. the daytona is much smaller though...

Pics of the SD43. If that's small for you then I think the Daytona will look like a trinket compared to the SD. Especially if you go white dial then it'll look like a ladies piece (which is fine but they do wear even smaller than they look).
