This is getting difficult....
Just as I was getting comfortable with my GMTIIc 50th, came a parcel. Deal I negotiated a while back, but finally pieces started arriving. This is one of them:
As many of you know, I already have a YG GMTIIc http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=78323 - sorry if you're tired of seeing those pictures... As it was pointed out many times today only, your watch is not the most important attribute of you - but it sure is nice! So, TRF, help out - what do I do - I will only keep one of these. Which one? Assume they cost roughly the same. And no downers please - if you dislike both - move on to the next thread, please. I will most likely make my decision by tomorrow, hopefully by then I will know that what I am feeling for this Serti Sub is love and not just lust... Want to know what TRF thinks. NOTE: Marrying Wileen + keeping both watches is not an option at the moment, but one can dream...

Wow! Both watches are stunners, but I prefer the Serti. Looks spectacular!

You find yourself is some "great" dilemmas Greg. The Serti is a beautiful watch, but I would still lean heavily toward the GMT. Something about the green and yellow gold make it a more unique and striking piece.

If I had to choose Greg, it would be the Serti, that's an absolute work of art, nicely balanced and not over the top for what it is, the diamonds are not too big and the stones at 6, 9 & 12 (are they ruby?) just finish it off nicely.

I am going to surprise myself here. I am not usually a diamond dial guy, but I really like the combination of the gold dial and hands on the YG Sub. That dial really belongs on that watch!
To me the green dial on the GMT is just a bit too much. No subtlety at all. It shouts from across the room. While neither watch would be considered understated, the Sub to me is much more classy and elegant. Sub vs GMT? Tough, but you can't really ever go wrong with a Sub. (I don't know what else you have in your collection.) Mark PS: If you are casting one away as an orphan, I will be happy to adopt it and give it a good home. |

Both are great. I'd find it extremely difficult to decide and probably would keep both; and if necessary, I'd likely start selling other watches to keep both! I guess it depends in large part on whether you want the 24 hr GMT function and like the ceramic bezel.

Greg, I wish I had your luck. I would go with the Sub. I had the GMT IIC, and I got rid of it for the SS Sub. I dont regret it one bit.

In my most humble opinion, I would definitely say to keep the GMT.
It would seem that the YG Serti Sub would be a bit more "obtainable", and somewhat less unique than the YG GMT. I personally think the new YG GMT, with the green dial, is the most gorgeous watch Rolex has ever manufactured. Having said that, if I liked (loved) both watches equally, it would come down to the one which would speak to my soul from the wrist. Go with the one that "feels" the best. Good luck! Abdon |

Ironically Greg, I've been looking at photos of TT serti subs myself this week! I really like the serti dial...I'm not a fan of the green dial on the GMTIIC so if it's between these two I'd choose the serti Guess I'm just a sub gal.
Good luck! Not a bad decision to have to make! |

I usually just lurk on this site, but this thread compelled me to reply.
For my first post, I'd like to vote for the GMT. Next to the Serti, it's no comparison. Neither watch is subtle, but the green dial just slaps you in the face with its presence. "If you're gonna be a bear, be a grizzly" |

The GMT IIc Anniversary is the best looking 18k yellow gold watch Rolex produces in my opinion. I would definitely keep it or sell both and get a rose gold daytona with a k/a dial.

Both are great watches, but after seeing them both on your wrist...I'd keep the green GMT II-c. I really like the contrast of the green face and gold hands.

Thanks guys and gals... Even if I stay with the GMTIIc, the Sub has changed me forever!

Even though I'm not a fan of Serti dial, I would choose Sub over the GMT in this case.

Crikey Mate!
Usually i am a sub fan. But the green dial on the supercase in all gold of the GMT just blows away the sub. The GMT 18K is one of those watches, that everytime you look at it, you will have a silly grin all over your face. I say sell a kidney, a 1/4 liver, some spinal fluid, possibly any other spare body parts except the eye cos we need that to stare at "the pwecious" and keep both watches. |
