Tantalum watches - which to collect?

Over the past 2 years I’ve developed an unhealthy obsession with tantalum watches. The fact it is perhaps the hardest metal to work with along with the Greyish blue luster, incredible heft/weight and hardness appeals to me…a lot. To me it is the ultimate "if you know you know watch material" since from afar it looks like steel or titanium.

Wondering which tantalum watches everyone that has seen that are both objectively desirable, rare and worthy of collecting?

In addition to these 3, I am considering a PAM 172 too but could use some suggestions. Of course the two tone 34 and 36mm oaks in tantalum and steel are on the list…

Urwerk has used tantalum on a few of their watches, including a recent release of the UR-105. Here is a tantalum UR-110: https://urwerk.shop/products/ur-110-...n-of-55-pieces

Zelos Swordfish.

Although that may take the mystique away, since it’s more of case of having the right tooling and techniques to get the job done cost effectively.
Back in the day Titanium was considered difficult to work, now you can buy almost anything in Ti.

Jokes aside, Pam 172 would be my shout.

The 172 is nice but I prefer your 192.

Sartory Billard offers both his SB04 and SB05 in tantalum, although at a fairly hefty premium compared to his steel versions.

I prefer the more "classical" panerai dial proportions of the 172 vs the 192. the 192, having a lemania movement, is special itself as well. Both are hard to come by (at 300 pieces each), as you likely well know..

Having said that, the only tantalum watch I have is the 172. Yeah, of course I'm mad at myself for not getting the CB while looking at it in the boutique a bunch of years back... nevertheless, if you get a 172, you'll have the complete panerai tantalum set. probably only a small handful of folks in the world can say they're crazy enough to do that.

Saw one of those

I mentioned to the SA (or "Keyholder" in Omega-speak) that Tantalum has a bit of a reputation as a conflict resource, but they assured me that Omega as a company would only deal with socially conscious sourcing. I'll take their word for it.

Nonetheless, I had to stop myself from drooling over this piece. If at all possible, should definitely be seen in person.
