2022 Edition - Sub or Sub with Date?
This has always been a near 50/50. With TRF demographics changing, curious to see how the community feels now on an age-old question.

To me is all about usefulness!
Not just because someone famous wore the same model in the past! I make my own history... Just the way I see it. Cheers! J. |

I don't need a date, I don't even need a second hand (Panerai Base owner/lover), but aesthetically for a sub I would probably choose the date.

Date on the phone. The sub is a watch and the symmetry of the dial is magnificent …

In most cases, including Rolex Sub’s, I prefer my watches w/ Date complication. Yet, somehow have no desire for Rolex to ever add a Date function to the Daytona!

I wouldn’t make this decision in a bubble personally. I think it depends on what you currently have. If I had a GMT for example, then I would go for a sub no date. If this would be my only Rolex forever, I would go for a sub date to get that iconic cyclops.

I generally prefer watches without a date; especially when it comes to the Submariner. However, it's not a deal breaker for me. I bought a Seamaster and it has a date. I'd love to have a Bluesy.
Plus, I want to get a Datejust, and the date complication is pretty much the entire point of why that watch exists in the first place. |

No date is my favorite. Such a clean classy look.

Starting to warm up to the no-dates... Date is fine for a daily wearer. But it gets tiresome to have to reset the time and date on the watches I don't wear so often.
Especially on my 1680 which doesn't have the quickset date feature.

I always forget the date, even while I am diving.
I do dive.

I have had a Sub date since 1979 and didn't even know there was one without a date until a few years ago. The Submariner for me will never look right without a date....

There is only ONE Submariner...and then there is the Submariner Date. Which I vote for. Love me the date, love me the cyclops...
And a true Sub/SubDate is Black on Black. Period. |

I prefer the Submariner. Clean dial, and a direct descendent of the original.

It's like you are making me choose between pulled pork and ribs...I guess No Date since I have one, but the Date is also great.
