I was on the list for the 126509 for around 2 years, i.e. the white gold Daytona with the silver face, stunning watch.. at the time I needed to keep the money for another purchase and declined, even though I was offered a premium for it from a dealer I know, and they sell around 25% over list..

I must admit I did worry I was not going to get another call from the AD, however 6 weeks later I was called again and offered the YM40 112266 Rhodium dial, which although not as hard to get, it is probably my favourite Rolex and I have also waited 18months for it.. when I picked it up this week, they gladly added me to the list for the white panda steel Daytona 126500LN, all in all, I am glad I said no to the first watch and that it meant that someone else could buy it at retail.

I had the same thing happen to me back when the new were the 116500 reference. Passed on the black and my AD called me about six months later to come pickup my white. Don’t give up and buy what YOU want to wear!

In my opinion you did the right decision. If you prefer the
white dial over the black it is good to be waiting when it
is arriving to you. And in my opinion the most important
thing is that now you are considered as a serious buyer
not a flipper who would have probably been trying to get
profit by selling the black dial Daytona.

No meaningful updates as of now. Tried on the white dial in July for the second time at another AD on exhibition, and that watch is glorious. The black is awesome, too, but it definitely doesn't hit me like the white.
Hopefully in the next few months I'll come back with an "incoming" thread.

Time is most valuable, if you really like the Panda just buy it grey and enjoy is from Day 1 , you can always resell it once your AD allocation does happen.

I’m rooting for you! It’s been six months from your OP.

For me, personally, I’d be very freaked out by now that the call hasn’t come in. It suggests that in six months he hasn’t receive a single 126500 white. I don’t know how realistic that is or not, but I’d be second guessing myself all day long at this point.

Buy what you want and will enjoy, it would have been hard for me to pass, I like them both, the black has it’s own pros and the 12 series in black is beautiful, better than the 11.

Went by the AD yesterday. My SA still seems upbeat about it being hopefully soon, saying I'm a top contender as a customer of many years. When pushing for a more concrete date, he couldn't say, but strongly said that he's advocating for me and made it sound like I'm either 1st or 2nd in line.

Last month there was the most panda incoming threads I've ever seen, so I have to imagine they got one in. That didn't make me feel great about my situation.

I like to think it will happen within a year of posting of this thread, but I don't know. I did the "right" thing, but some days I wish I hadn't. I overall don't regret my decision necessarily still, as I personally really think if I bought the black, they wouldn't have sold the white to me for several more years. That still could be the case regardless, but I think I would've found myself often looking down and wondering what would've happened if I just held out. I really didn't want to flip the watch.

I think you made the right move. I personally do not buy any piece I'm not thrilled with, even if I could then easily flip it for a profit. Stay patient for the one that sings to you, and let someone else enjoy the one you pass on.
