My first attempt on vintage… training my eyes on smaller watches! What do you think? I have the 5270P but felt this one has a bigger charm…

Absolutely love this reference.

I've actually been looking for a 3970J for a couple of years now, in good condition. Eventually I'll look hard enough and pick one up, also to go with my 5270.

And yes, I agree, it has a lot more charm and I love the size despite having fairly large wrists.

It looks fantastic, congrats.

I also think this ref. is better than the current model. A case which fits the movement and displays the information so eloquently on the dial eliminating the blank space found on the new dial.

Not forgetting fitting such complexity into such a small case was actually quite a remarkable achievement and in some people’s eyes even more impressive.

My only issue is the boxes for the day/month displays are so small I cannot read them. The larger boxes on the newer models are a great improvement. LOL
