Point me in the right direction.

Hi, I'm a vintage Rolex collector. I have the bug for Patek, really like the 5119 & 6119 but they are manual wind. Is there anything else in the Patek line comparable, with an automatic movement? 25K<

Thanks Chris

Just a thought you might look at :
Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Self-Winding Wristwatch 85180/000J-9231 Gold
Not a PP but comparable quality , thin and pure class . Look on e bay and Chrono 24 , be sure to get original box and papers . I have both a rose & white gold .
Love the 5119 but sold it a few years ago - wish I had kept it . Like these as well . james Michael

A preowned 5127 or 5107 would do the trick. Lovely crown guards and Geneva Seal on those references, too. Current lineup=nothing in the parameters you state.

Maybe not too similar (or dissimilar) but the 5296 could fit. It’s automatic, sector dial evokes vintage vibes. I love the blue hands. And it certainly would pair with many strap options. And nice examples can be had below 25 for sure.

Thanks everyone, I'll have some time today to do some research .

The 2 5119 in the ( out to lunch ) post are so sweet; love those bezels. But the idea of manual wind would be something I would have to get used to.

Thanks Chris

You want the 5120. Same look, but auto.

Chris, I don't think that I would classify 5119 or 6119 as vintage. Patek made some outstanding automatics starting in 50's. Many are available $25k<

Thanks, there are so many to research. Vintage is preferred, but service is also a consideration. So newer with service may better suit me. Keep you all posted.

Ellipse 3738 can be found below 20K but not for long.
Incredible value for precious metal PP.
Automatic movement with mirco rotor

I know you mentioned an automatic movement, but something to consider about the 6119 is that it has a 65-hour power reserve, so it's very efficient. Every morning, I give the crown a few twists, and that's all it takes to keep it going for an entire day. Even if you miss a day or two it will still be ready to go. I, too, only wanted automatics, but the 6119 has not been an issue at all.

With Calatrava's the manual winds are pretty special with a more traditional look. Since they are time only, the winding is no big deal. Most have at least 45 hours of PR and if they wind down it takes a second to reset and wind. The Patek automatics have to be worn or put on a winding box if you wear them gently with little or no arm movement because Patek does not recommend winding them beyond 8 turns or so just to get the watch started. That is not enough to keep them going all day.

Thank you both, I was unaware how the Automatic works. The power reserve of the 6119 should be fine. Thanks Chris

Both 5120 and 6119 are excellent timepieces

Thanks to all that participated in the conversation. At this point, I'm fine with the manual wind. Really love the 6119G & R, the 5119 is a bit smaller and has less power reserve, but appears to be 12k ish less. I'm in SW Ohio north of Cincinatti and south of Columbus, no inventory to be found. Wish I had looked at them harder when I was at the Miami show last month. Looks like its time for a road trip.

Thanks Chris
