New Submariner Serial# V or G?
I recently bought a new stainless steel Submariner Date as my first Rolex. I thought it's a good year to buy a Sub 116610 since this is the first year of release and it might retain a special value. However, I notice that my watch's serial# starts with G, whereas the Subs that came out a few months ago has serial# starting with V. Does that mean the 116610 with serial #V are the first batch of its kind?

Rolex have moved to "random serial numbers", it really doesn't matter anymore.

Is G really part of the traditional letter####### system? I read somewhere that someone suggested it was a coincidence of the new random serial system, having the letter at the front. All 116610s are now on will have random serials.
V serials are the first ones. edit: http://watchmakingblog.com/rolex-serial-registry/ appears G serial is the last of the original letter## codes. |

I have just bought a G Series Submariner, non-date, see the thread from Chris titled "ask an insider, page 6" regarding the question I posed in relation to G Series, it looks as though Rolex have introduced G and random numbers at a similar if not same time, it would appear G series is the latest series prior to moving to random serial numbers, but I could be wrong.... my G series starts with the letter G and 6 further numbers. Hope this helps.
