Keep your eyes on the big prize Adam. If the 16610 is what you want, focus on that goal. It will be all the more satisfying when you get it.

Congrats on the job. I am all for getting something nice for yourself with the hard earned money that you have earned. At the same time, I try to teach my kids the value in saving something for tomorrow. I will also tell you from my personal experience. I have always wanted a Sub for like the past 15 years. I did the DJ because the price was right. It wasn't a Sub. Sold it and bought a 14060. Its a nice watch but the honeymoon is over after six months. I don't think I will, but, I am having thoughts of selling to go against a new/relatively new Omega Seamaster PO. What I am saying is that they are great watches, but even when you have a long love affair with the brand, it is a lot of money to find out that it is not the end all of watches. I never thought I would have these feelings over something I lusted at for nearly 15 years. I would love to see you get your grail, but make sure you can afford it for today and tomorrow also. This is just the more life-experienced person coming out in me.

Save for the Sub. Do it right and keep it! Congrats on the job also!

I couldn't agree more. You'll have plenty of opportunities to settle later, no need to start out that way.

I have to tell you that glamorous jobs seldom really are when you peel back the veneer.

The fact that you can now describe your job as "great" and given my own experience, I can predict that one day you will look back at your current job and think to yourself, "Boy, I wish I could afford a job like that today."

Make hay while the sun shines and good luck on the Rolex.

I wish you the best.

Adam, I would advise to save all that cash and watch your bank account grow like Mt. Everest! I know this will be difficult to believe, however, I still have my old bank account with almost untouched old cash from my first ever summer job while in my freshman year of H.S. which was working at McDonald's! The Sub will always be there! Good luck and have fun!

Don't settle ! If the 16610 is your target then get it! You'll only be spending more money in the long run if you settle for something else in the mean time

Congrats on the job Adam. Just keep working till you save enough for the 16610. Don't settle. I've bought things at times and settled only to regret it later.

This man is very wise, I would heed his advice. I too wanted a Submariner when I was your age. That kind of money would be better suited for helping with your education or other expenses. (unless your family is wealthy!) It is none of my business, and I don't mean to sound like an old man, just friendly advice. You are very young, and have a whole lifetime ahead of you! You will go far in life, you seem to have a good head on your shoulders. Good luck in whatever endeavors you follow. Take care.
