1992 Daytona - Your Thoughts Please
Hello, I came across this watch for a price that seems to good to be true, but the finish of the bracelet makes me think it is real for some reason. There is only one picture, but I can't spot anything wrong with it. What do you think?

Thanks Brian, could you elaborate? I'd like to know how to spot a fake for future reference.

I'd rather not get into it so as not to provide easy pointers for counterfeiters, but your best bet is to look at a genuine white dialed 1992 Daytona (it'll be a model with a Zenith movement), and compare it. I'm not an expert but this one is really obvious.
I would also guess this one has "1992 Daytona Winner" engraved on the back of the case and was found in someone's grandpa's desk drawer. |

seconds subdial in wrong position and subdials should be black? Also, when did Rolex start polishing the center links?

100% fake. A 1992 Daytona is a 16520 yet the pic is a horrible attempt to look like a 116520.

Center links were polished beginning with the 16520.

To be honest, all it took was 0.5 sec to see the wrong dial, case, bezel, crown, pushers, bracelet.
Even if the crappy pic wasn't there the "too good to be true" price would be enough for me. ![]() |
