Overshined
Man, I have this friend who wanted to have his DJ polished so instead of taking it to my AD, an official former RSC watchmaker and currrently certified by Rolex watchmaker with all the correct education and equipment, he opted to go somewhere else for reasons I do not understand. I think he was afraid of getting a big bill. I don't even think my watchmaker would have charged him a cent for a light, gentle buffing.
Anyway, he took it so some rookie who buffed the shoulders round and literally took off lots of metal. I don't think he has the eye to really understand what was done to his watch, and I don't think I will tell him. He got his shine though! Just remember to be careful when you get zealous about wanting that new watch shine. You may just get it but lose a lot more. |

What a lesson to have to learn.
Never again the cheapskate, I'd bet.

Ouch. I suppose he can do whatever he wants with his watch, but as for me, I would never go anywhere else but the RSC.

So many people are "penny-wise and pound foolish"...or
"You get what you pay for"...choose which every platitude makes the most sense. Bummer.

That guy that polished the watch should be accountable for his actions. Not sure what you can do about it now, but that's crazy.

Sorry to hear the bad news, tell your friend so he knows what he has jumped into. Maybe next time he will make a better choice.
